Byron Scott called Steve Nash but hasnt received a return call. Does he expect to see Nash around team? "Don't know. I'd like to"

After waiting quite a while, Steve Nash called Coach Byron Scott back this morning. Said he might come see the team soon.

It would be easy to say that if he wants to avoid retiring to get paid (nearly 10 million), he should be required to show up to every practice and game, or else he should be docked pay. However, the only point to him being at games and practices would be for him to influence and in a way "coach" the younger players on the team, and honestly, he has absolutely no obligation to do that as he is paid to be a player.... I do think less of him though.

When I shared this elsewhere I got quite the "you're being lied to"/2nd guessing Wolf .... but I know some people in TOR who have had direct business dealing with Nash. And just to say while he may be a nice guy he's not the great angel he's made out to be. While Nash and Kobe are portrayed completely different - business wise they are the same. Cut throat and selfish. Which is just fine because business is business, I'd just like Nash to drop the nice guy/I'm such an angel act he has going on at times. Case and point his FB post defending his golf swing/back. Just shut up and collect your paycheck. That's why you came back dude. Stop the rest. BTW this is coming from a fellow Canadian.

This may be hard for people to understand unless you've returned a call to a coach of NBA basketball, but there is an incredible difference between those calls and swinging a golf club, hiking, even hitting a tennis ball or playing basketball at the park. Fortunately those other activities aren't debilitating, but making a return phone call usually puts me out a couple of weeks. Once you're asked to converse with Byron Scott and Mitch Kupchak it is a completely different demand.

Steve's too busy picking up his bags and working on his golf swing to return phone calls.

How do we know that management didn't send him away so they can get the tank job on?

Hi, you've reached Steve's voice mail. Please leave a message, and I'll get back to you when I get back from the golf course.

Having him on the roster (starting line up role) with his good/bad health, would have cause line-up adjustment every other game. That would have cause instability with rotations and what/not. Plus, having him on the roster with his injury curse, would have secured our last place finish in the league.

B. Scott is slow on the uptake. When your body splits apart, the recovery is generally longer than two weeks.

LINK
Already been down that road.
Quote:
The Lakers have currently allowed Nash to stay away from the team since his season-ending injury. But the Lakers general manager Mitch Kupchak, coach Byron Scott and teammates have all expressed hope Nash could serve as a mentor for the Lakers’ younger players. Scott has not talked with Nash since the injury, both for the want to give him space and because of the team’s heavy schedule that entail playing its first four games in five days.

A caller on ESPN 710 speculated that perhaps Nash was the insider source wihtin the Lakers organization bad mouthing Kobe in Aboots article, and Jeannie has forbid him from being involved with the team. Far fetched, but hey, maybe.

This is scripted to keep public focus off of the actual team and how poorly they are doing.

All theatrics and politics.
