Lets just trade all the good players away like Lou and DLo and JC. We don't need a good team. Just stay mediocre forever.

You obviously can't see the big picture. Clarkson's contract MUST be removed. There's nothing emotional about this.

Notice how we went on that run with JC at PG instead of Ennis or Caruso? Been saying forever that JC should be our defacto backup PG.

Lou's contract was a thousand times better. The Lakers will not get a first round pick for him.

The best they can hope for is a salary dump and a second round pick or two, which is cool.

Problem was he developed such tunnel vision and the coaching staff saw that firsthand last year. This year he's passing it! Less ISO dribbling too. He's changed his game to merit some backup PG and with Hart and brewer we can let ennis sit now.

True. I just checked JC contract, thought it expired in 2019 but I was wrong. I can see how an extra year ruins it.

Thanks for that profound explanation.

Fact: The Lakers need Clarkson's contract off the books to have any hope at a second max contract.

Trading Clarkson now for a second round pick could be equivalent to trading Clarkson for Cousins later.

But I suppose I'm being stupid.

2nd max contract? I am really not seeing the 1st.

Dude, when we play him at PG, he always passes it. He did it toward the end of last year too. Don't you remember that late last season, we put Clarkson at the PG spot next to Russell and suddenly both looked better? Why do you think he played so well his first year? HE WAS AT THE PG SPOT.

Playing PG brings out the passer in him. I don't understand why we keep going against what's been obvious his entire career.

It's okay if you can't "see" it. The reality is that that's THE PLAN.

So Clarkson has to go.

Clarkson as backup PG makes sense to me (assuming he can balance his scoring/passing like he did tonight).

I think the key to this rotation change isn't Clarkson though - more likely it's Josh Hart. If Hart can hold down the fort at backup SG, then I think Luke will shift Clarkson to PG when Lonzo's out of the game.

And the key there is that, with some exceptions, he's making quick decisions and not ball stopping. One thing to put up those stats, but they are empty if they disrupt the flow of the offense. In truth, he's been helping the offense while putting up those stats. It's been nice to see the first few games.

Here is hoping tonight was beginning of clarkson realizing his transformation. He did so much efficiently, but did relapse a few times to old JC. However he seems to be getting that by pointing to himself and saying “my fault” on those plays. Maybe the light is starting to come on.

JC might be our best player, but it is hard to argue that he isn't our most consistent.

this! been hoping for it as well. ball clarkson kcp is a tight rotation that will
really max the guard play. hart and booker as needed for injuries or foul trouble.

I said it's the plan. I'm not guaranteeing anything. Plans don't work out and change all the time, but, for now, the plan is to clear space, and Clarkson is the most likely guy on the roster to be traded because of it.

You don't have to be sensitive about it or even threatened. It's just reality.

As much as I applaud for his good performance, he is not the kind of player that the team really needs. We need people who can shoot the ball consistently well, and lets face it, JC isn't remotely related to the word "shooter" or "consistent".

After tonight? He just proved he is by far our best off-the-bench scoring PG to come in for both KCP and Lonzo.
