Think Wiggins is a lock by now. Doubt Clarkson elevates his game enough to surpass him and if Scott continues to go with Lin in the 4th, Clarkson will get less minutes and less in crunch time to shine.

It would take at least two standout performances to even get his name whispered in the roy conversation. Not high profile enough. He would need some gaudy numbers; 50+ points, or 20+assists, or multiple trip dubs.

That would be very nice. Multi-faceted guards.

That would be a bright future.

Ideally, which is pipe due to Butler:

Chandler/Davis/Upshaw
Randle/Kelly/Black
Butler/Hollis-Jefferson
Kobe/Swaggy
Russell/Clarkson

Chandler would be a really nice stop gap C next to Randle, help us win games now, bring a veteran presence and mentor Davis/Upshaw

I think that team could be a playoff team next year.

No. Clarkson can score and is athletic but he's not better than a lot of the other players on the team. He has a lot to learn still. He's doing great, but no way is he the best player on the team. He's not the best guard on the team, there are things that both Lin and Ellington do that is better, mainly because they have more experience.

The NBA Rookie Ladder (link) has Clarkson at #10.

Interestingly enough, when Clarkson moved into the top 10, Tarik Black was moved off. Here is a link to early January when Tarik Black was at #7. With a healthy Julius Randle, the Lakers would have arguably had three of the top fifteen rookies in the NBA this year.

Now, if they can just get that top five draft pick this year......

clarkson is not only athletic and can score. He can pass, rebound, defend, and doesnt turn the ball over. Over the last 10 games nobody on this team is playing better than him

February
minutes 27.5 Lin 24.6
ppg 14.0 Lin 11.4
FG% 47.7 Lin 44.9
3% 37.0 Lin 33.3
FT% 84.6 Lin 79.4
rpg 3.6 Lin 2.1
apg 4.0 Lin 4.2
1.5 TO Lin 2.5
spg 1.1 Lin 1.0

i dont understand the hate, the kid is playing amazing right now. If he was a top ten pick people wouldn't be complaining as much we got a major steal.

If Clarkson can avg around 5-6 assist to 1-2 turnovers. He can be the lakers pg of the future.

I didn't realize his passing has improved so much. He is the total package on offense and no slouch on defense. Can easily be our starting PG of the future.

I think Tony Parker is the closest comparison to what Clarkson can become based on his potential.

yeah he's basically a bigger version of Tony Parker right now. Not a great shooter, quick with his first step, midrange game, and he has definitely shown the ability to finish around the rim.

A couple things I like about Clarkson are that he's quick to the ball and the action; and that he has elite lifts on his jumper. As he gets stronger, I expect him to be a very good defender and if he can develop consistency on his jumper out to 3pt range he becomes a great spacer (hard to recover and contest if he's elevating which means his man has to stay attached).

It's a lot to ask for, but improvement at getting to the line and continued development in finding teammates in a position to score would make him a starter.

He's been quite on a run but Westbrook will be his biggest test.

Would you trade him and the top 5 pick for Kawhi Leonard? Spurs could end up with a Parker-lite and defensive Duncan-lite in WCS, or Stanley Johnson to replace KL. Lakers look more attractive to Kevin Durant with a Pippen-lite.
