I am not down with the recent JC criticism. Aside from Lou Williams- who gets to go back to his role under Byron last year- the whole team has been playing like crap since the injuries happened. I think JC is pressing to just let if fly now because the guard corps is so decimated.
He will get back to normal when Young and DLO return on Monday!!!!! Hopefully!!! _________________ R.I.P. Doc Buss |

Somo folks just struggle with negative talk about their favorite players. I don't like to make excuses for anyone, if a player is not producing he has to find a way to get out of his slump. I'm sure anyone can find a couple of PG doing just fine under Byron Scott and I'm sure we would be able to say the same about Luke. |
The difference in the situations is pretty simple though. Russell was 19 and playing well if you consider his age. Clarkson is 24 and the only player not playing better under Luke but somehow it's the coaches fault and not Clarkson's. |
It's never just the coach, players have to find ways or the criticism is valid. |

Serious question here. What does JC do well if his jumper is off?? I haven't seen him really do much. He doesn't draw any fouls for someone so good at attacking. He definitely doesn't set his teammates up. I just don't know why he's given so much leeway here. Defensively out while team is a mess so that's not a argument to make. Offensively though JC has really narrowed his focus to straight gunner. Lou is that guy. JC needs to be patty mills. Corey Joseph. Sadly he is playing like Jason Terry.....on the Celtics. _________________ You mystified at what exists inside

The very next year, when he actually had other ball handler around him, his assist rate dropped from 23.8% to 13.8%, and now it's down to 12.0%. That precipitous drop has lasted for over 100 games now. He has PLENTY of opportunities to hit get assists by hitting the open man when he comes off of the pick & roll. He doesn't. I was lucky enough to watch the game at the Spectrum Sportsnet studios yesterday, and both Fish & Worthy were lamenting this too. He hit Ingram for a Spot Up 3 in the 2nd quarter and they were both like "finally!"
He's only a PG out of necessity, in a lineup that has almost no other ball handling, as he was in his rookie year. |
oh damn, details? LakerFilmRoom getting a cable TV deal? |
Lol, no. They do a thing called "Blogger's Night" where they invite people who cover the Lakers and have a certain audience, and apparently I qualified for that.
It was me and people from Lakers Nation & Silver Screen & Roll. I think there were 9 of us in total. The Spectrum folks were really hospitable, fed us and gave us great access. Jamie Maggio & I shared pictures of each other's dogs as I tried to not ask her to marry me. |

OTOH its a smart move...dont want that workplace environment to be weird when you take bres spot in the studio next year
|
Bres is awful. If GT gets his spot, I really think they should just refer to him as GoldenThroat. Serious. |

That offensive foul on the fastbreak with Randle wide open was one of the dumbest plays I have ever seen. Jordan Clarkson is a stupid basketball player. His basketball iq is way below average.
I really really really want him off of this team. |

And to think I was labelled a hater when I said we were better off not resigning him?
"But he's an asset"
Not on the court.
"He has a good contract"
Who cares. You don't think teams do their homework? They see exactly what we all see. A net negative chucker who couldn't defend a statue.
He's the Rudy Gay of guards. You trade him and your team automatically improves. _________________ Go LA! |

He should have been resigned, because he played "fine" last season. No one anticipated his court vision/selfishness to be so brutal this year. Now, with his "improved" defense falling off as well, he's regressed across the board. |

Yes, signing him for the contract they did was a smart move. Luckily the FO isn't irrational and reactive. _________________ RIP mom. 11-21-1933 to 6-14-2023. |

He played the exact same way last season. He was just as bad defensively. He's basically only getting minutes because we aren't good enough and we have no better options. What does he provide for winning teams like the Spurs/Warriors/Raptors/Cavs? He would be on the bench pretty much the entire game. _________________ Go LA! |

Yea, luckily our FO who aren't irrational nor reactive didn't sign Luol Deng for 72 million after getting turned down by Kent Bazemore for the exact same price. How lucky are we! _________________ Go LA! |

Would disagree a bit. Last year he looked for lobs with Black often. As well as drive hand offs to bigs. Now is nothing but ignoring Ingram rolling wide open off screens and (bleep) like he just did to Randle; where the replay shows Clarkson looking right at Jules and still trying to go, over? through? around? Dudley. |

I'm still a believer in JC. But I'm starting to lose some confidence. This is the time we need him to step up, not regress back. |

I'm done with this dude. He's been awful all year. That play where he committed the charge sums him up as a player. |

He played well off the bench when we had our full squad. Don't like him as a starter though. _________________ From 2-10 to the Western Conference Finals |

You start to see why Clarkson was drafted so late.
Did he deserve to be drafted earlier? Sure but he got what many players didn't have which was an opportunity. He padded his stats and got mins for two really BAD teams. His game doesn't bother you if you're tanking but when you're actually trying to win games, you see how detrimental he is. _________________ Go LA! |

When Jordan is in a shooting slump, his other shortcomings look larger. That's most of what's going on. Poor timing when we need guys to step up, but it is what it is.
What's more concerning is that Jordan is letting his offensive struggles impact his defensive intensity. He's already not a great defender and opponents are punking him right now because his heart isn't in it. _________________ Austin Reaves keeps his game tight, like Kobe Bryant on game night. |

Pounds ball, hot and cold offensively never steady |
