To me, one of Clarkson's largest problems is that he only knows one direction.... and that's a straight line. It's why he doesn't get to the line much. He looks for space and goes right through it, rather than weaving through it. On that note, has anyone ever seen Clarkson perform a euro step? _________________ LakersGround's Terms of Service

you think it is a diva thing? a BBIQ thing? a coaching thing? JC has to recognize all the league's decent scorers get to the line and he does not.

Heh, thanks.
I really think Clarkson is just such a line driver because the game has never slowed down that much for him. He also doesn't have that great of a natural feel for the game, which is why he isn't that creative of a passer either.
Still, if he could shore up his defense and get his 3pt% close to 40%, suddenly he is a legit starter in this league. However, those both would require pretty big leaps at this point. I think consistent minutes as a starter will help him offensively, but defense is another story. _________________ LakersGround's Terms of Service
Ok so RPM hates him, but other than that, our boy JC actually compares to Devin Booker pretty closely! The main thing is that he averages fewer points but has a better assist-to-turnover ratio. Pretty interesting. (Obviously Booker is 5 years younger, but I still noticed how similar their production has been.)
interesting that JC scored 35 points off of 20 FGA and only 1 FT, while Booker scored 70 off of 40 FGA's and 26 FT's. The point is JC has to find a way to get to the line more....he could easily be a 20+ PPG scorer if he could just become average at getting to the free throw line. It is tough to be a legitimate scorer in the NBA without getting to the line 6-8x per game.
There are quite a few players that take less than 6 fta per game and still avg 20 ppg
No talk about JC tonight? _________________ "He's a Zen master, so he can speak to you, and he doesn't need a microphone; you can hear him in your head, 'Ron, don't shoot, don't shoot.' Whatever, pow, three. I love the Zen, though."

Nice third quarter, and nice to see some chemistry with dlo. _________________ “We must always take sides. Neutrality helps the oppressor, never the victim. Silence encourages the tormentor, never the tormented.” ― Elie Wiesel
JC seems to be putting up some decent stats since Lou was traded.
I don't really watch the games that closely, but can anyone tell me:
1. Has JC been improving or even playing any defense?
2. Are his stats just empty stats or does he actually have some game impact?
Other questions:
3. Can a player be a significant impact on offense for a GOOD (playoff level) team if all he can do is drive to the basket? JC is so inconsistent from the 3 that I'm not sure if he's is helping or hurting the team by shooting 3s. Maybe he should just stick to shooting mid range and layups.
4. I know Nick Young is older than JC and probably isn't in the Lakers long term plan but I think I would rather have Nick's 3 point marksmanship, added height and marginally better defense than JC's ball hogging, over dribbling, poor defense and inconsistent outside shooting. But if JC can improve his shooting and team play, maybe I'd keep him. I do like his aggressiveness on offense though.

Dude how did you find that video so quickly ? Did you specifically remember Clarkson euro stepping in that game ? Lol.

1. He's improved on the defensive end this year. This stretch isn't terribly indicative of that though, for a number of reasons, most of which revolve around tanking. Guys aren't trying as hard and more guys who are clueless are getting playing time.
2. He has some impact. His biggest non-box score contribution has been the positive impact of allowing Russell to operate off of the ball more often.
Nice offensive game tonight w/ 18 points & 7 assists. However he still has to improve defensively (-19 +/-) ....yuck!
Well, collectively we're not all that defensively.
Nice shooting by JC last night btw. _________________ LeBron, AD, & _________. Stay tuned.

19/4/3 on 53.6% TS%, 2.5 turnovers per game, since the ASB.
I feel like this is the JC many of us had hoped for after last season. IIRC I predicted him putting up 18/3/3 this season.
Good stuff! Wish he got back to preseason levels of defense though.

He's improved his vision since Lou was traded which is one of the biggest pluses along with Russell breaking out. Still has to work on his shooting from three and defense but his production post ASB has been solid

Yes to all.
Benefits all ways as a trade asset or whatever role he is in next season. _________________ From 2-10 to the Western Conference Finals

Seems like one of the side effects of playing alongside Lou for him was feeling pressure to get a shot up whenever he could. His decision-making has been much better.
I don't fret too much about his defense. Yes, it could be better, but we're also super disorganized on that end and a couple of our bigs make our guards look worse than they are.
