The between the leg dribble to freeze the big a couple possessions before was a thing of beauty.

Both those plays had me pressing the remote to repeat a couple times.

Now a days, when Clarkson is out of the game, I go do something else, I mean I would rather watch paint dry than watch Wes Johnson, Ellington, Kelly jacking up shots.

so after next season if we make an qualifying offer he becomes a restricted FA right?

Yep. We finally have one of those modern combo PG's on a restricted deal like every other team has haha. The most prolific position in the league and we haven't had real talent there for so long. No need to handicap ourselves trying to overpay guys like Knight or Reggie Jackson now thank goodness.

After next year, we will have to watch out for teams trying to poach him from us. Similar to the deal Houston offered Lin, with a big jump in salary after the 3rd year. But, given the Lakers track record, if Clarkson is worth it, we'll match.

Never saw this video before, but it's clear that Jordan put in a lot of work prior to the draft.

Good work from the line last night from Clarkson.
Other than that, it wasn't a great game for him.
Bad shooting, alot of turnovers...but I like that he has a short memory and keeps competing.

He still strikes me as a shooting guard more than a point guard. But I understand why we run him at the position we do. He'd need to put on weight for the SG position and why mess up a good thing. He's slashing the paint with ease.

Yeah, not a great game; he fought through mistakes, though, kept competing, and was one of the main reasons why we won. Yes, I know it was against Minnesota.

There are going to be teams that are going to be asking for him during our trade discussion; 1 already did. Great improvement, good work ethic, and a definite keeper, IMO.

Some might cringe at the comparison given how things played out, but Clarkson reminds me a lot of Crittenton, at least as rookies. @ pre-draft measurables, Clarkson has a better wingspan but they have the same standing reach. Critt was a little heavier, both very lean, standing and max vert and reach similar. Same in the 3/4 sprint but Clarkson smoked him in the agility drill. Jordan seems to have quicker reflexes. Both can juke you with the handle but neither is a steady dribbler. Both good at shifting gears and raising up. Clarkson seems to get to a spot quicker (agility again), both streaky shooters, Clarkson has shown better decision making in his rookie campaign and looks to be the better passer.

I suppose it's a way of saying tht Clarkson may be what Crittenton could have been. Critt was sent to Memphis before he really had a chance to learn about being a Laker, then the personal stuff crept in. Clarkson is joining the team at a ground-up interval with Nash at his side and Byron (who has developed guards well as a coach) at his front.

If Clarkson is Crittenton, I hope Unibrow is Pau Gasol and history repeats itself.

Clarkson has been getting a lot of rebounds for a PG, over 5pg. That's one of the most underrated parts of his game. He's going to be one of those complete Pgs that does more then just scoring.

Just watched some of the DX scouting video, and Jordan has definitely added another gear. He did not look noticeably quicker than his NCAA contemporaries, but he seems to be faster and quicker than most other PGs. I wonder what kind of work he put in to improve his speed and quickness so noticeably.

Looking at PER, Clarkson is third in rookies ahead of guys like Wiggins, Nerlen Noels, and Elfrid Payton. The rook is outplaying most of the lottery picks from last years draft. That's crazy. It's really crazy how much of a gem the lakers scouting department found in the 2nd round.

He has some potential to be an advanced ball handler. Every game he'll have a nice move. But in between that he mishandles the ball once or twice, just where it gets away from his body and interups his drive. He often gets stopped on his hesitations where he just puts his head down and barrels right into his defenders chest. I think that's because the ball is slipping a bit and he can't go full speed becuase of it.
So he needs to tighten up his handle, but he has nice dribble moves - I'd call that potential to be a really good ball handler. But we'll see

Dragic was #45 pick. I'd be delighted if JC turns out to be as good.

He just needs to learn how to control the pace of the game. If you have been following his career, he was a SG at Tulsa. When he transfered to Missouri, he was converted to PG. He's still learning how to be a point guard. It'll probably take him a couple of years to built up his skills to be a good PG.

Like someone else on here said, if you can drop 20 in the NBA on an off night, you're doing ok

People want Clarkson to have full pg instincts so quickly. He's a second rounder who was initially an SG but has shown the ability to adapt to being a pg also. Learn some patience.
