Can we forget the "playing next to Kobe stuff" if you don't mind?
Kobe is old and breaking down, I love the guy but let's keep it real. |
I would like Kobe to come off the bench as well, but BS is not going to do that. Kobe will not except a role coming off the bench as well. So, Clarkson will be playing next to Kobe as a starter next year. |

Come off the bench for what? That's a tiny stain on his legacy. Ya he might suck next year but we won't be any better without him. Let him retire in peace |

Seems many forget Kobe was the highest scorer in NBA until his shoulder continued to get worse. His shoulder was hurt before the season began but kept getting worse with all the minutes he was playing. Let's wait and see how he plays next season with his repaired shoulder. |

Have to build around Randle, Clarkson, and top 5 pick. |

Clarkson is #6 on nba.com's rookie ladder. Amongst rookies he is 3rd in scoring, 6th in assists, 3rd in FT%, and 8th in FG%. Marcus Smart is #7 on the rookie ladder.

Well yeah no duh.
Don't worry Randle will get his shot next season, along with hopefully the top 5 pick as well.
But man, talk about a steal with Clarkson, and then a steal with getting Black without giving up anything.
Thanks Rockets! |

"But Black has produced for longer, with a good first half for the Rockets, including as a starter in place of injured Dwight Howard, and now 7.6 boards in 24.2 minutes..."
Does the writer know Black plays in LA and not Houston? |

Reading it again I think he's referring that half of his games have been playing as a Rocket. 25 in Houston, 27 in LA. |

It's like when someone praises or curses Byron Scott I'm the game thread when he's not coaching, or curses or praises Pressy when Byron is already back. |

To be fair I was watching gamecast in those games. I didn't read up at all about Scott being out or in those games.
BIG DIFFERENCE DAMN IT! |

If they got Justise Winslow in the draft then that settles pretty much every positional problem they needed youth or depth in within 2 off-seasons. Sign LeVert with the Houston pick and you settled it all within two off-seasons you have your "young do some damage in the NBA in 3-4 years group"
Point Guard - Jordan Clarkson
Shooting Guard - Caris LeVert
Small Forward - Justise Winslow
Power Forward - Julius Randle
Center - Marc Gasol / Deandre Jordan
You have the 'young future' there and you have Kobe as well with them.
So that's all fine, particularly if you're going after someone like Durant in 2016 or Westbrook in 2017. They'd all need to pan out though. | i like it, but would marc come play with clarkson, randle and winslow? |
You likely have a bigger chance landing Deandre Jordan than you do of landing Marc Gasol.
What appeals to him is him not playing 3rd fiddle as well as the Clippers not wanting to max him. They talk a big game about it, but the truth is, financially if they max Deandre they are virtually the same team they are gonna be indefinitely and if they don't win a championship this year then it will just be the rest of the years waiting on a rebuild. The season after next, Blake Griffin's contract is up along with CP3's.
So when it comes down to it that core is locked in indefinitely without much room for any improvement, and CP3 is about to be 30 before this season ends. They don't have much time. If they lose early in the playoffs again this year the writing could be on the wall. What you can appeal to Deandre is a young core with two lottery picks and a steal in Clarkson, more room to make moves in the future and two max contracts available in 2016 as well as a more important and potent role than he has behind Blake.
He also likely wouldn't have to worry about making the All-Star team if he's putting up the numbers here with also a more prominent role.
So we shall see. |

Except that Steve Ballmer now finances the franchise, which means that he is ok with going into luxury tax territory. Plus every tom dick and harry wants to play for the clippers as is seen by the number of players they seem to pick up every time they become available. |

Clarkson with 18/7/6 on 50% shooting today. Not bad, he should finish top 5 on the rookie ladder hopefully and get all rookie first team. |

He's playing a really balanced game. If anything, I might say that this game he was trying to be too much of a floor leader and could have been more aggressive. I think right now he's also trying to please the vets a bit. With more experience and pedigree under him, I think he'll feel more comfortable asserting himself. He's turning into more than just a combo guard. He looks to be a guy who is capable of setting himself up just as much as he does his teammates. Really solid performance tonight. _________________ LakersGround's Terms of Service

He is probably the best point guard in this draft. He has a little Russell Westbrook in him. |
