Yeah, considering they make fake chicken eggs and toothpase with antifreeze and pet food that pets can't even eat. I ain't about to drive on a set of their tires only to find out they're made of black licorice.
Start this at 2:53 if you wanna learn how to make fake eggs and grapes:
Bursting watermelons. They look like the plant monster in Little Shop Of Horrors. "FEED ME, Seymour!!" If they were allowed to keep growing, they probably would have turned into plant monsters.

Ask Ford....if you remember in the early 2000's, the Ford Explorer and those Firestone tires. I would never skimp out buying a bargain brand tire, those Chinese tires sound like they were sold thru Pep Boys.

(bleep) Just had 4 Continental ContactPro EcoPlus tires installed to replace OEM Continentals. If anything, it's true, you get what you pay for. Two weeks into it, there was a sidewall issue and one tire had to be replaced.
Continental AG is supposed to be a Germany company, but I wouldn't be surprised if these are manufactured in China. Some tire companies are avoiding the US tariff by shipping Chinese-made tires through Vietnam or other SE Asia factories before it arrives here.
Next time I'll save up for Michelins rather than go with the bargain route.

I doubt this revelation puts the brakes on counterfeit tires.
I think people are tired of their tires and of American distributors who green light low-tier tires. It's a long and winding road to get people to respond to recalls, Bill Maher cited a report showing around 25% of recalls actually get completed. Hard to get people to change lanes. Nowadays, American consumers are at an intersection between profits and safety. Intentionally peddling (or is it pedal?) unsafe tires is the worst they can do. As lakersken80 said, Ford had to explore Explorers for unsafe tires. Alright, I'm done...that's as many as I could come up with. _________________ GOAT MAGIC REEL SEDALE TRIBUTE EDDIE DONX!

Not another retread pun.
Yeah, these puns are radial. The first post is the hub and the replies extend out of it like spokes. Once it's started, there's no capping the hub. No hubcap. _________________ GOAT MAGIC REEL SEDALE TRIBUTE EDDIE DONX!

Continental is a good brand. OEM Benz's and some BMW's do as well. You could be right though that they might be cutting corners. Sucks .
I love my Michelins, smooth ride, great performance, been years and tires are far from bald.
Always had a good experience with them on previous cars as well, this time, decided to continue with the OEM brand which had a decent ride at a few hundred dollars less than a set of Michelins. It seemed like a good deal at the time, but in the long run the extra cost for Michelins is worth it.

That reputation is what sold me on continuing with Continentals, there were lots of solid reviews too. Apparently, somewhere along the way there might have been some slippage in the manufacturing.
