I've been watching him since I was 12 and he still inspires me to this day.

As frustrating as he can be sometimes, ... Kobe is just a basketball god.
It really is a privilege watching him play. |

I was at the Pyramid in the summer of 1996 when Kobe scored his first point as a professional (albeit in an SPL game) and i can remember how excited I was for his prospects as a pro.
Every year, young studs filled with potential are picked by NBA franchises to the same type of excitement and fanfare that KB was all those years ago and yet, how many have fulfilled their promise, let alone achieved the accomplishments the Mamba has?
It's important to reflect and not take things for granted and, as much as I love and admire Kobe, I am guilty of doing that very thing ... taking him for granted at times.
Well, tonight's a good night to say, "Congratulations, Kobe! You're the best! I'm just glad you're a Laker. Thank you Jerry West!" _________________ We back. |

Still regret not getting his rookie basketball card....I remember thinking if the Lakers traded for this high school kid to team up with Shaq, he must be special. |

He played a real solid game tonight. That and1 was a thing of beauty. Loved the quantity of shots, and although he may have forced some in the fourth, he set it up real well cos' we all thought he was going to shoot that possessions here he gave to Nick Young for the 3pt foul. He made a lot of good reads. He hustled on defense, had his lapses where he was lucky opponents missed open shots but the dude was still the mamba.
Happy he could get to 32 with a W as well. Go Kobe. Onto the next. Hope you destroy Dwight tomorrow. |
Not to mention that great pass to hill under the basket that he messed up and screwed up the jump ball to boot. Should of been a basket _________________ "Bryant has been the second best player in the NBA for over a decade, but the number 1 player changes every other year. He autographed his rookie card for me in person one game when he was injured in Detroit. I thought what the heck I'll bring my card not even thinking there was actually a chance _________________ "Bryant has been the second best player in the NBA for over a decade, but the number 1 player changes every other year. This.
Kobe has done ALOT of inhumanly, impossible things on the court. He's definitely a freak a nature athletically but it's really his basketball IQ what separates him from the rest.
Only Kareem, Magic, Jordan, Bird, and Duncan come to mind with a similar mentality or close to similar with Kobe's. _________________ "Tryin' to get that Kobe number, One Over Jordan"

Plus he's a freak of nature when it comes to his therapy. The guy is a mad sscientist when it comes to taking care of his diet and pushing his workouts and recovery to an evolutionary level.
-Germany Procedure
-First NBA player to reach out to Hakeem to workout publicly
-First NBA player to wear the track tights under his game shorts during the game. Everyone else followed him an did the same. (Lebron, DWade, Melo)
Sure he got made fun of by some people for wearing tights but it actually is a great fit. An it helps keep your legs warm and is a excellent way to keep your legs muscles from cramping. _________________ "Tryin' to get that Kobe number, One Over Jordan"

And yet history will show that Duncan was the best player in Kobe's era, and Jordan was the best shooting guard ever. Kobe's been a great volume scorer, but not much else. |

Have you seen the defensive awards? We're so quick to forget. 36 Kobe isn't the Kobe of the majority of his career. Aside from a great scorer, his AST average is still higher than the majority of SG whom played the game. His greatest strength is putting the ball in the hoop, but to dismiss he's anything but that is naive or selective memory. |
