Swaggy solves two issues...first he is the designated scorer when Kobe is on the bench...second Wes will see dimished time on the floor. In fact it will also bring down Kobe's minutes and provide a second weapon at crunch time. Make that 4 things.
Swaggy & Randall where a big part of the plans this year. At least one of them came back. |

seriously, if Sawggy was playing from the first regular season game, quite possibly the Lakers is 4-7 or 5-6 right now, not too shabby... |

He gives the Lakers a serious scoring threat. One Lin can finally drive and kick out the ball in penetration and have another player to go to. Second, he is able to prevent teams from collapsing on Kobe because they know there is another scoring threat. |

You can see how Lin/Kobe/Young/Randle/Davis could winna few games... _________________ “We must always take sides. Neutrality helps the oppressor, never the victim. Silence encourages the tormentor, never the tormented.” ― Elie Wiesel |

I like having him play together with Kobe. Yes, we need firepower off the bench, but he changes the game by having another deadly attacker that the defense can't leave open. It creates easier, more efficient opportunities for Kobe, and it does the same for Nick. It helps spread the floor.
This has been a huge problem all season - Kobe doesn't have anyone else that can attack/score so the defense is focused solely on him. He takes tougher shots, is less efficient, and needs to work extremely hard to keep us in the game. Nick solves more issues than just his points scored. |

Exactly. Look at the 3 he was fouled on in the 4th. Wide open tonight but teams will stop swarming Kobe with him on the floor. Wes would be allowed to shoot that with no defensive recovery _________________ "My thirst for domination is fed only by the game. I refuse to get distracted by outside forces." - Kobe Bryant |

I truly thought we'd be 8th seed contenders going into this season, but losing Randle and Swaggy at the beginning shot our chemistry and our schedule didn't help. I think you listed the real impact guys on our team. If they, minus Randle, can play well every night we'll surprise some people. But it all depends on chemistry and momentum, something that Swag brings in bunches. Once his magic wears off though it's up to everyone to be consistent. Still going to be difficult to beat last year's record in this Western conference, but there's a glimmer of hope at least of a potential for a magical run into the playoffs. Seen crazier stuff happen. |

Young needs to come off the bench, we need that fire power off the bench. When Elliington gets back, i would love to see how Swagg, Price, Elliington, and Davis work together... _________________ New Beginings |

Sigh. I miss randle.
No way wes should be playing more than 20 mpg once young gets up to speed and/or X is ready (or another SF is brought in). |
Ugh. Me too!

Agreed. If Randle were here certainly that would be a possibility

Yup. We would have had a chance at the 8th seed for sure |

^^^ True.
But it does show how a quality player here or there can make a huge impact. Just makes you wonder how things would be different with Swaggy and Randle from game 1 this year |

Young is the anti-tank missile b/c:
1. he's not good enough to make this team a playoff team;
2. but he's good enough to push them out of the bottom 2. _________________ From 2-10 to the Western Conference Finals |

As long as Kobe is playing I'd rather watch the lakers win some games and have some fun like yesterday night even if that means missing the pick. Honestly I can't go through 82 games like the first 10 we had. It was just too painfull.
As long as Kobe is playing the Lakers won't be tanking so might aswell give him some help. |

I'm fine with them continuing to lose that many games as long as they're losing by 3 and not by 30. Competitive losses rather than being stomped into the ground every night. |

Well, after Randle went down, I'm basically hibernating for next season. I want this season to bear some fruit. And if it's Kobe you like seeing, he'll still be chasing scoring records regardless. At least in a bad season, one could also expect a major franchise piece in a rookie going forward, but if we don't get it, it's a double blow. _________________ From 2-10 to the Western Conference Finals |
