Big ups tp Wes for his defense on Harden and the free throws.
Also have to give Scott credit for keeping him in there. It is always easy to pull Wes late because of his shortcomings. |

Wes played well defending Harden at the end. BS also coached a good game, especially going small at the end and having Hill rove way off his man to be able to provide the double team against Harden. Hill was impressive as a roving big. The next time the Lakers play against a weak offensive center, they should try that small ball approach again. |

I think the thing that's frustrating is we see flashes that he has it in him to be a solid starter, we just don't see enough of it. I'm not getting too up or down, but yea hopefully we see him becoming a consistent defender and can actually gain Kobe's trust in cutting to the rim and when open in the corner. |

He said there would be a new and improved Wes. He just didn't tell us we'd have to wait 5 games. |

Yeah, he can't hit an open 3 or even make layups, but he made a big play to win the game tonight....so I guess we can forgive him for tonight... |

He played great D tonight, made a clutch play but I'm still waiting on a break out game from him. He was good his first year here. _________________ My Dream Starting 5 next Season

We have to admit that a player need to have a great talent to stop James Harden just like that a make the clutch play on the offense.
But you'll all agree that he needs to practise 3's more often. This year it seems like he just can't score a bucket.I just know Byron told him to focus on the D.
I think everyone is going to calm down when Ellington comes back because than we're going to have a few shooters and a decent defensive player so then the Lakers will balance their roster. |

yep. props to Wes. just hope he stands up like that more often....go get it son!
I've always got Jordan's Hill's back. I rate him as a player and don't BLEEP if he has an off-game, or half, or quarter, or 2-min stretch ffs!? _________________ "We might have had the worst season ever or could have the worst season ever for a Lakers team, but now let's have the greatest comeback that the league has ever seen." - Kobe Bryant |

After that still at the end, I told the TV that I take back every bad thing I've said about Wes.
Totally redeemed himself! |

This is how Wes needs to play. Concentrate on defense and score on put backs and dunks. No jump shooting. |

Gotta admit the last two games Wes really has been a difference maker on the defensive end.
Tonight the two steals he got on Harden, one for a Price dunk and another for that game sealing and one by himself.
He also did a fantastic job on Korver last night as well. locking him out for most of the game. The three Korver made at the end was with Wes not on him.
So Wes does deserve credit. Also had a quiet 9 points which is about as much to expect from Wes offensively as defensively is WHERE we want him to make his mark. |

Don't forget the defensive job he did on Korver the night before. I hope his defensive success starts to carry over to his offense. He's FG% is horrible right now. |

But that's the thing, his defense was good all game. It's just most people here only watch offense and defense when it matters in crunch time. He played Harden great in the 1st half. He also had numerous tip rebound passes to keep possessions alive.
He misses open shots that make us get frustrated with him, but he has to be on the court. We don't have any other perimeter defender. I'm just happy he did what he did tonight down the stretch cos he's been busting his behind on defense this season. |
This. I agree dis defense was good all night. |

Wes made a few good plays, but he's too inconsistent. He has all the physical tools to be a Bruce Bowen type of player, but he lacks confidence. This draft profile accurately describes him, he should be much better then what he is now.
