Disabled player exemptions only give you salary cap relief. The injured players still take up a roster spot.
Lakers need a hardship exemption for that |

Yes they have to apply for it. If they don't get it they'd have to cut someone before they could add anybody to the roster |

| @22, thanks. I just think it's a flat-out stupid rule. The team itself has no control of players going down with freak/fluke injuries. The best free agents are already taken, anyway...I just can't see the purpose of it. |

Is that why you thought it would be easy-peasy to just sign some dudes and wanted to know why that was such a difficult concept to grasp? |

To prevent teams from stashing guys who are "injured".
