I think Thomas Robinson could be a possibility for us as we could use some help at PF as Randle is done for the season and Kelly will be out a while.

He is still young and a former lottery pick and might be worth taking a chance on.

So no trade then?

They still could. Until they sign someone with it a trade is still a possibility.

The Lakers would be to smart to bring in a guy like AK47... and he will also probably would want to play for a contender... we have no chance to get him.

We still don't have a roster spot to sign anyone.

So with your plan we'll try to make a push for the playoffs only to finish 10th in the west and miss the playoffs plus loose our draft pick to Phoenix. Lets dig a deeper hole. Great!

it's still early..if we make a couple of tweaks to the roster and everybody put their acts together we can still make the playoffs. but it's obvious the team doesn't want to win this year. I don't really care if lakers make any more moves, they don't have a winning attitude right now. might as well just tank and get the 2nd worst record behind philly who's tanking harder than we are.

The current record is 3 - 11.

If it would take a record of 48 - 34 to make the Playoffs, then the record for the remaining 68 games would need to be 45 - 23.

I have doubts that Byron's coaching and Kobe's defense would be conducive to getting a 48 - 34 record even if the FO decided to rob from the future and did some roster tweaks.

I don't think it can be combined with anything else.

Right, if it were to be used it would have to be two deals.

We're full of real PF's; Booz, Hill, Ed, & Lilly, I mean Kelly ..

Lakers are soft on SF and e C (as we have mostly PF's playing C) positions....

Corey Brewer is another option. However, if we trade for Brewer, we would likely win more games. I think he would be a better SF than Wes.

Correct. If they trade him, the exception simply expires. Otherwise it expires if we use it, if nash returns to the team, or March 10, whichever comes first.

Btw, in a trade, LA can take back the amount of the exception plus 100k.

I can't believe that list. Is it really updated? Some of those guys are still playing?

Well, I want to keep the top 5 pick, so lets go with the squatter Robert Swift. It would be awesome headlines if Kobe invited him to stay at his crib for the duration of the season. But at the end of the year, he doesn't leave.

Who would actually come?

Kwame Brown - hands of stone, but great man-man defender
Rashard Lewis - If Dallas take Ray Allen, that may make Lewis open to a job
Yi Jianlian - Was a solid and fast PF. Wasn't a bust, but offered good money in China. Not sure if he'd come, but Kobe is a fan of his... so maybe
Corey Magette - would probably be great with Lin
Metta - just because he'd speak up if Kobe is making bad decisions

Since we are tanking, I don't think we will use it. Corey Brewer would have been nice.

A lot of known players on that list that really just slipped away, just forgotten.

Blatche, Linas Kleiza. Fab Melo, Rudy Fernandez .....

Baron Davis still wants to play?

What do the rules say about this scenario: There is a euro named kristaps porzingis, 6'll, lots of potential, who was going to enter the draft last year and pulled out, is expected to be top 10 in the next draft. Since the Nash exception is about what the rookie scale for 3 years is, is it possible or legal to offer the kid (who is already pro in Europe) that money and he forgo the draft?

Nope, he has to enter the draft.

If we get a hardship exceptions we should take a flyer on a Miller. Otherwise stand pat unless a young player with potential falls out of graces with his team.

I don't think the Lakers are tanking... they just don't have any identity and plus they have no system in place to be successful... the Lakers obviously need to make changes and it would be interesting to see what happens with Nash in the next few weeks.

What about Seth Curry....instead of Price?

I also said before the season began we should give Bynum or Oden a try.

They can do both.

The DPE and Nash's contract are considered two separate assets. The Lakers could get one player for the DPE and another player for Nash's contract if they chose to do such.

Am I misinformed or are these exceptions pretty worthless? it seems like anyone that is available would be willing to sign for the minimum. Who out there is still waiting for a $5million offer?

Let's see if the FO makes the Lakers somewhat relevant with a few more assets added....
