Lakers, Earl Clark working on a one-year deal, league sources told Yahoo. He's averaging nearly 30 points for Houston's D-League affiliate.

1-year deal... does that mean we waive someone? because it was never reported that we got that exception to expand roster to 16 players, and even if we did we have to cut someone when Kelly comes back. So ... goodbye Price? Ellington? (both nonguaranteed) ... Xavier? (eat his contract?)

Noooooooo! The guy played SO BAD last year with the Cavs that they got rid of him after giving him a 9 million dollar deal the previous summer and has been floundering around the league since. And besides, after that one good month he had when he was here, he had two bad ones to follow it up.

But I guess since there's literally NO ONE else available, we might as well go after a player we have a bit of familiarity with. And his post game interviews are always entertaining

Huh maybe we are going to 16 ... and in the time between now and Kelly's return either waive / trade players and/or work out Nash's retirement? LINK

Sources: Lakers working to sign forward Earl Clark

Yahoo Sports

As injuries decimate their roster, the Los Angeles Lakers are working on a one-year deal to sign forward Earl Clark, league sources told Yahoo Sports.

Clark has averaged 29 points per game for the Rio Grand Valley Vipers of the NBA Development League, and the eventual finalization of a deal could bring Clark back to the Lakers in the next few days, sources said.

The run of injuries has allowed the Lakers to petition the NBA for extra roster spots.

Clark, 26, is familiar to the organization and its officials. He started 36 games for Los Angeles in the 2012-13 season. Clark has averaged 4.4 points per game in parts of five NBA seasons. He was a training-camp invite for the Memphis Grizzlies in the preseason, but didn’t make the roster.

The Lakers have lost Xavier Henry, Julius Randle and Steve Nash to season-ending injuries. The Lakers also are without forward Ryan Kelly for the next month because of a hamstring injury.

Earl had a good run with us. He should fill in nicely when Boozer sits out a month for a boo-boo on his shins.

Obsolete stretch-4's to the rescue!

Isn't he yet another PF? Would have rather signed a big bruising C. Also, I doubt Byron's system will do him any good.

Does this mean we've lost interest in Quincy Miller?

Earl Clark had his best year in the NBA playing for the Lakers.
Maybe he can help in some small way.
He's worth no more than a vet. minimum contract or something close to it.

Apparently so; but I'd rather take a chance on Quincy.
He's younger and has more upside than Clark but I guess Q didn't show enough at his workout with the FO to warrant consideration.

It seems as though they are no longer interested in developing young players. If we are going to tank I'd rather see some young guns out there developing - opposed to slow man Boozers phantom post defense or Prices horrid offense. These guys are done improving. They are who they are. It's hard to even consider some of these guys Lakers.
