LOL first of all, give up all those players for Josh freaking overrated Smith!? Ha!
and secondly, so BS might get Josh to play up to his potential, but has no chance of doing the same thing with our other players, including the incoming Earl Clark?!

Quote: | Earl Clark is a low rent player who has specific skills. He has a nice touch with the basketball, likes to rebound, has toughness and more importantly understands how simple the game can be when Kobe is on one side of the floor. He’s not a reluctant scorer and his defense is above average. He can play either the small forward or the power forward. |

Come on folks really? Josh Smith despite his inconsistent play has elite defense/athleticism... he's just stuck with that crap-hole Pistons team and that below 0- blizzard temperature in Detroit might be affecting his game.... all we give up is a retired player.... a likely injury prone player and a guy who will probably be out of the league in the next couple of years... this trade makes sense if you want to push for the playoffs. |

I have already forgotten Clark's play. Compare to Wesley does Clark attack the rim better? |

I like Clark, but he's a poor fit, IMO. |

So is this move solely based on desperation or something fans can talk about? it's not surprising that he's a poor-fit..... the Lakers don't usually examine much of there moves. |

It's a move to fill out a roster spot with a guy that the FO is familiar with. It's a fairly meaningless move either way Very unlikely that you sign someone of significance off of the scrap heap at this time of the year. |

Maybe it's a sign that they are finally realizing that playing Wes close to 40 min may not be the greatest idea after all. |

What on earth makes you think he'd do any better here than he's doing in Detroit? The guy is a perennial loser, and the combination of his contract and his playing style makes him one of the least wanted players in the league today. NO THANKS. |

Josh Smith... he'd be a perennial all-star if he would stay in the post and stop chucking long balls like he's Steph Curry.

Why the hell would the Lakers want to make the Pistons' mistake their own? Josh Smith is terrible. |

Exactly, I couldn't have said it any better. Plus, who wants another undersized four man who thinks he is a three, and has absolutely no real NBA ball intelligence besides God given athletic ability that is off the charts.
Stupid is as stupid does. Goes perfect with Josh Smith. _________________ Game 3 Victory in Denver . They still might. If they are gonna waive X and are considering waiving Price they may have 2 people in mind. Clark could be one. |

I'm hoping we get Miller also, maybe with a team option for a 2nd year at the minimum, whereas Clark will probably only be available for one year at the min. They can both play both SF and PF and we do need backups at both those positions. _________________ You are either in or on your way to the NBA Finals. |

Earl Clark should improve the Lakers defense.
This is a guy who, offensively, can play the small and power forward positions and defensively can guard basically 1 through 4.
He's a good rebounder and played off of Kobe Bryant really well during his first stint with the Lakers.
I'm not hyping him up to be an all-star or anything.. but Earl Clark is *way* more dynamic of a player than Wesley Johnson.
I would be intrigued by a Lin, Kobe, Wesley, Earl, J Hill line-up though. I'd imagine they'd improve dramatically defensively with Carlos Boozer taken out of the starting line-up.
People will mock now.. but I've always liked Earl Clark's game. People act as if running into a wall offensively never happens. All players go through a stretch where they're not-so-great. |
