According to Ramona Shelburne on 710 when she hosted it with the Kamentzky Brothers about what the Lakers' front office thinking is.

But one of the brothers brought up a good counter to her point: What the Lakers' front office say is one thing, but what about the fans?

Lakers are now 3-12 and tied with the 2nd worst record in the NBA.

What do Lakers fans feel is more important to them?

Making the 8th seed this year, or getting a Top 5 Pick next year?

Lol at making the 8th seed so the Warriors or Grizzlies can beat us by 30 every game and Suns get our pick. I'll pass. Legit might have the worst FO in the league.

A top 5 pick. And it isn't even close. Even if we make the playoffs as an 8 seed, we're going to get swept. So that means our pick goes to the Suns, and we're essentially the same team next year. I'm not going to say our pick is going to change our franchise, but at least it has the potential to become something moving forward. I can't say the same about a potential playoff appearance.

We aren't making the eighth seed. It would be a shock if we even got close. Close to fifty wins, if not even more, are needed to make the playoffs in the West; unless we get red hot and Stay hot all season, we have no shot.

Top 5 pick. 8th seed is a bigger pipe dream than Anthony Davis being traded to the lakers for Sacre and Kelly.

You would think the FO knows what it takes to win after all these years. I'm starting to think these guys are clueless about winning basketball since they've been spoiled by the greatness of Kobe

It's obvious the FO wants the top 5 pick. Signing Boozer was a clear indication of it.

Ramona is a troll.

High pick is what we need. There is no valid argument against it

Keeping the pick means we have a piece to rebuild and keep the suns, a rival, from getting better.

We need that pick at all costs.

Lose it, and it would be the worst move by this franchise thus far...

That includes howard walking, gasol walking, mda, brown, kobe contract....

I'm sure.... the Lakers would consider getting the 8th seed... cause the current Buss family [unnecessary insult deleted -CL] spoiled by the greatness of Dr. Buss.....

one has to wonder if this is gonna be the vision for this franchise.... hope for a playoff berth... instead of getting a top-pick.... might be like this for the next few decades..

Hmmm lets see:

Top 5, get a possible franchise player

or

8th seed, swept out & and pick goes to Phoenix

If the front office really believes this. We are in deep (bleep).

Management will never admit to tanking so they've mastered the art of tanking without tanking.

IMO. The front office is divided. The Pro-Tank side is Jim/Mitch, the Anti-Tank side is Jeanie Buss.

what a wasteful thread. what else front office gonna say to Ramona? oh we all in for tanking? what front office leaked to media doesn't matter, what matters is what they really believe deep down inside.

The... Lakers probably think they will be good enough to fight for a playoff berth in April... and might try getting a good player in a trade that will help us get there..... but the Buss family.... knows the days of thinking about Championships is over... now they will suit themselves for squeaking in the playoffs or having a piss-poor record.

I'm sure the owners want to make the playoffs mainly because it looks horrible that in their first three years taking over for their dad, they're going to miss the playoffs twice, which might match how many times the Lakers missed the playoffs during their dad's entire ownership. Fans won't wait around forever.

It's all plausible denial.
The FO wants to win but they are not as stupid as most people think.

It's all a front; the pick is the #1 priority.
Believe it or not the FO IS actually in stealth tank mode.

This is just lip service. They can't possibly believe that the 8th seed is even a possibility. I'd rather believe they're just cynically stroking the diehards than believe that they are shockingly even stupider and more deluded than I thought they were.

It's not a choice. There will be no playoffs. It's probably not a choice as far as having one of the worst records in the league, but some luck is involved when it comes to the lottery and actually getting a top five pick.

They should be having a season-long fire sale. Hoard picks. Anything from 1-40. It's gonna take more than one to fix this.

There are no quick fixes. The sooner they accept it the sooner they will prepare for the next right moves.

There is no chance they're that stupid.

Although I woudn't bet all my money that we keep our pick at the end of the season. I wish they'd make moves to guarantee it but they won't.

i agreed, it's as clear as sky Jeanie is still living in the fantasy land when free agents can't wait to come here, she's too stuck in the glorious past, and she doesn't what to let go of that, forever. that was why i thought of jeanie Buss right away when Kobe's extension news broke, it had her fingerprints all over it.

I'm guessing the... Lakers are treating Ramona.. like a puppet-and thus are giving her bad Information to spread around about what there really thinking.... cause we all know this season is a lost-cause unless this management has something on the table that can change this season around... which is very unlikely... the unfortunate part is that the Lakers aren't tanking... they have built a roster that players don't really care about the tradition and the honor of wearing the P&G jersey.... they are here to pad-stats and bounce in the summer.... do people still not get it?
