Could Mitch be "reducing" Kobe's role/influence when summer 2016 hits?

Especially if Kobe wants to return, he may need to take a super team friendly deal.

Why not just do a full max deal to fill the seats with butts for years!

Well they can't. Can only give 2 year deals to players over 35

Kobe is done now anyway. Might as well let him score as many points as he can. Then in 2 years we can let him go and get some real players for his huge salary.

Wonder how the preparation/recovery process changes and how favorably if Kobe could accept a 6th man role, playing 20 mpg and not 35, and sitting out back to backs.

I'm not sure he would ever accept that. He should be accepting that now. And he isn't.

The best player on the team, by far, should be accepting a 6th man role... seriously?

No, not 6th man now. But a reduced role? Yes.

So basically what you're suggesting is, Kobe is washed up to the point where on a team stacked with talent such as the current Laker squad (/sarcasm), he should be reduced to a 6th man, 20mpg player ?

Regardless of how inefficient he has been so far in the season, he is far and away still the best player on his squad. To suggest his role be reduced to that of a 6th man, with this current squad is downright silly and frankly disrespectful to a guy who helped bring 5 rings to the team.

Poster said 6th man role and you said he should be accepting that NOW.
Reduced because we have better options that we're not using or reduced because you think he's old and isn't good anymore?
It goes back to the same question- why accept a lesser role when there isn't someone better than you to take on your role?

Kobes team mates should file a class action law suit for abuse. His bully behavior is hurting the team.

Also you are insulting the strong family bonds of Asian people. I think I will report you.
