Rewind to between 3:35 - 3:40 pm on hour 1 of Max Marcellus Show.
I can't believe it! Ramona Shelburne of all people, aka the voice of Jim Buss, just said on air on ESPN that the Lakers' front office has no vision.
Also talked about the lack of direction. Kobe Bryant wanting to keep it afloat, while Magic Johnson wanting to tank for a high pick. There's no coherent plan, and that the Lakers are trying to go into 2 different directions. _________________ |

Doesn't matter if Kobe and Magic's opinions differ because Magic is not apart of the org.
I didn't listen, but if that's her evidence for us having no direction.... |

Neither Magic nor Kobe are privy to Lakers strategic plans.
But nevertheless, it is a concern. I wonder as well. _________________ We are stardust

she compared our situation by talking about how Phil faced the New York media for like 30 minutes to discuss his vision. Phil answered alot of these questions, etc.
She commented the Lakers are not doing that now. Who is the voice of the Lakers she asked.
Interesting commetns. |

I thought Jeanie made that clear when she started doing her pubic appearances. Either way, I get the concern, but I'll give the FO some time to right this ship. A reasonable amount of time. I don't want to be having this discussion 3-4 years from now... |

She did mention, all she gets from the front office is that they want fans to buy tickets this year.
But I can't believe this is coming from Ramona Shelburne of all people. Who's next to turn? John Ireland? _________________ |

Exactly, Jeannie is the voice of the franchise, she has let us all know that. If that is what Ramona is basing her ideas off of, then she is basing them on basically nothing. _________________ RIP mom. 11-21-1933 to 6-14-2023. |

Shelburn is doing what she's supposed to be doing: keeping her name relevant no matter what the team is doing.
Same as Steven A and that skinny white guy he's always arguing with.
Same as Broussard.
Windhorst is still hyperventilating from his move from Cleveland to Miami back to Cleveland. I personally worry about his health- the guy is a heart attack waiting to happen. What dedication...
Same as Florio and all these sports "Journalists" nowadays.
Sports Journalism (with the exception of a few) is getting so low the British tabloids are starting to laugh at them.
And really it's the internet and the desire for instant gratification by the masses that is to blame.

Maybe what is going on is that Phil is under more fire in NY than the Buss' are in LA. _________________ RIP mom. 11-21-1933 to 6-14-2023. |

Maybe. You think so? This is his very first season there. I definitely don't think Fish was a good hire as HC, but I feel he'll get some time before the pitchforks and the torches hit his front door.
How long did Isaiah Thomas and that other goof last there before they cut bait?
Who signed Allan Houston to that Hiroshima of a deal over there? |

why would the Lakers see the need to share their vision with Ms. Shelburne? _________________ "Now, if life is coffee, then the jobs, money & position in society are the cups. Exactly. She probably didn't get any inside info from the FO which she interpreted as us having no plan. |

Guess she'll be out of a job soon when ESPN realizes she can't get any dirt from the Laker organization. |

It sounded to me like she was basing everything on Phil taking questions from writers in NY. Really? _________________ RIP mom. 11-21-1933 to 6-14-2023. |

Ramona Shelburne's reporting is like this...
According to sources...Lakers had internal discussions of pursuing Kevin Durant in 2016 and Anthony David in 2020.

We're screwed if the FO is targeting Anthony David.
Not even an NBA player! |

Wait. In another thread you cited Ramona as one of your trusted reporters and sources? Not anymore I presume? _________________ From 2-10 to the Western Conference Finals |

Well I think that they actually do have a vision and a plan and I also think it's pretty obvious. Save as much money as they can so Jimmy can spend it all!!!
Who cares if the team wins or not... |

The plan is as many stop gaps as we need until we can find a top tier free agent. Maintain flexibility at all cost. |

it doesn't take much intelligence to see what our plan is...
1) acquire young talent/asssets via losing/trades (Randle, Houston's picks) aka stealth tank
2) hope Kobe helps develop them
3) bring in 'near bust/under appreciated' type players on one year auditions and determine if they are worth resigning (Swaggy, Davis, Lin, Wes, etc)
4) sign the guys who prove valuable to longer term/cap friendly deals
5) maintain max cap space for superstars in free agency
6) let Kobe sell tickets as he rides off into the sunset
7) use Scott as a pawn until Kobe goes
8) with Kobe gone, let this new young core establish it's own identity |

Can't rewind that far anymore so I can't hear it but ... to me it seems like there is a vision. It might not be the one we all agree with, but I think it is there. |
