Just looking at some footage from 2009-2010. I think the LO/Bynum/Pau threesome was one of, if not the best big threesomes ever. Versatile, skilled, tough. Just great. _________________ “It took many years of vomiting up all the filth I’d been taught about myself, and half-believed, before I was able to walk on the earth as though I had a right to be here.”

Andrew was a huge disappointment. His body betrayed him.
I met him at the driving range in Westminster. Gave him a tip on how to hit a golf ball. Told him to keep his head over the ball through out the swing and too swing down.
He was very approachable. His later antics surprised me.
Big threesome, I'm going Ol Skool
C Bill Russell
PF Tom Heinsohn
SF Jim Loscutoff

I'd say Artest, Odom, Gasol was more versatile, skilled and tough.

Nah man, I'm not talkin best front court.I'm talking three players who could all play at least the 4 or the 5 at an all star level. _________________ “It took many years of vomiting up all the filth I’d been taught about myself, and half-believed, before I was able to walk on the earth as though I had a right to be here.”

Dripping wet, Lamar hands it off as Gasol brings the ball down low in between his warm pasty thighs, Kobe looks over to Bynum and softly whispers, "I eat first". _________________ "The best there is. The best there was. The best there ever will be.", said Bret Hart regarding the Los Angeles Lakers.

The best scoring trio would be Alex English, Kiki Vandeweghe and Dan Issel from the Nuggets of the early 80's. _________________ “Properly read, the bible is the most potent force for atheism ever conceived.”

If you're talking about three guys who played C and PF (two starters and one backup), I go:
-- Willis Reed, Dave DeBusschere, and Jerry Lucas
-- Parish, McHale and Walton.
-- Wilt, Happy Hairston, Mel Counts
Andrew was a huge disappointment. His body betrayed him.
Every time I remember Bynum I think damn, wish we traded him for Melo when we had the chance.
We still sold high on Bynum, but that trade would have changed so much. Hindsight is 20/20 but we might have another ring, or still be contending had we made that move. For sure if Melo got here he'd have stayed.
The finest three "big" man front court I've ever seen play had to be Parish, McHale and Bird. Was freaky the way they used McHale, to guard the most mobile front court guy on the other team.
The finest three "small" man front court I've ever seen play was probably Wes Unseld (6'7"), Bob Dandridge (6'6") and Elvin Hayes (6'9"). Funny that Wes could ever be labeled "small". The man was a block of granite with eyes and feet.

Bynum was actually hurt in all three of our finals runs. It was really more of a duo. _________________ Damian Lillard shatters Dwight Coward's championship dreams:

That's what I was talking about. Not best front court. _________________ “It took many years of vomiting up all the filth I’d been taught about myself, and half-believed, before I was able to walk on the earth as though I had a right to be here.”

I get the premise but let's not forget, our team as a whole took a huge (bleep) when we decided to "feature" Bynum more.
The true big 3 was Kobe/Pau/LO. I distinctly recall George Karl saying the Lakers were the best passing team in the league. People forget that that team for the spurt of 2.5 years ran the triangle better than any other Phil team. And yes...I'm talking about the Bulls as well. The Big/Big/Kobe passing, cutting, shooting was something beautiful to behold.
Not directed at anyone, but it's just sad mainstream media in general and even worse, Lakers fans typically ignore LO and supplant him with Andrew when discussing those Lakers teams.
When we were dominant and WINNING, it was Kobe/Pau/Lamar. Andrew was a distant 4th. NPZ has it on record, watch the game tape. Once we decided to "feature" Andrew, it became, LO as an afterthought, Pau on the perimeter and games watching the "beast" pound the ball in the post. There are #'s already out there. His numbers in strictly post-ups were embarrassing. Andrew's fg % was largely a result of dumpoffs and put backs. Iso postups were a joke. People have this tendency to mix up a dumpoff as a result of a guy like Kobe for a 2 foot layup and strictly post work like Pau. Bynum made $100M dollars off that. Bynum's actual contribution to our 3 finals run was being a space consuming big during the actual games he played. There's a positive in that.
However, our once elite offense crumbled once we deviated from what worked. It was like clockwork

Odom, Gasol and Bynum rarely played together.
That is why they worked so well, you could always have 2 of the 3 on the floor. Bynum was a real anchor, something we haven't seen since. _________________ RIP mom. 11-21-1933 to 6-14-2023.
