Thank you Mitch for not destroying our cap space or ejecting our future draft picks for Rondo.

Rondo is good but what Dallas gave up for him is absolutely stupid and helps to make them redundant in a year or two.

I would give up one decent player for him but Boston gets to finally unload him which is great for them and they get to build on more draft picks and the players they got or good.

I was really worried the Lakers would make a run for him but it seems the Mavs were willing to give up everything for that guy which is fine with me.

They gave up nothing of value....
The biggest asset Boston got was the 2015 1st round draft pick which is going to be in the high 20's looking at projections of where they are going to finish.

Oh and when summer comes and we don't end up in the top 5 and strike out on all of the free agents please don't start a thread saying you were all in for Rondo.

One of the dumbest moves, or non-moves, we have made in a few years. We had a shot at an actual star for nothing, a protection for a pick we won't even get equals nothing, and we didn't jump on it.

Did anyone think Danny Ainge would actually help the Lakers? Seriously? Ainge was just teasing the Laker front office.

Brandan Wright, Jae Crowder, Jameer Nelson, one future first & one future second.

RESTRICTED
Jae Crowder

UNRESTRICTED
Jameer Nelson (P)
Brandan Wright

I don't know if that's nothing.

Dallas didn't give up much for Rondo. I also don't think Rondo would have helped the Lakers. Rondo needs a stacked roster with shooters. The Lakers aren't in a place to pick up an injury prone pg while they rebuild. The Lakers need to find the next pillars of the franchise.

It is nothing. Nelson has negative value. Wright and Crowder are nothing special. And the picks are late ones. Please stop.

Gave up everything?

Great move by Dallas. Gives dirk a legitimate chance at another ring. He really should have two if it weren't for the refs agenda...

But this move wasn't giving up everything.

Win Dallas.

On paper it looks good. Lets wait and see how things pan out.

If you want to thank Mitch.. thank him for not making the mistake of signing Lance Stephenson.

When was the last time you've seen a player (who people around here were saying would bring the Lakers back to contention) on the trade block less than 1 year after he signed with his new team?

And Charlotte isn't even that great of a team to begin with.. so what does that tell you lol

What Dallas gave up wasn't much because they are a good team that are now legit contenders with Rondo. I wouldn't be surprised if it turns out to be Mavs vs Spurs in the WCF.

We had no business trading for Rondo. I'm glad Mitch didnt do the trade.

I agree that Dallas gave up very little for a very legit title shot, but you need to find a more polite way to make your point.

Agreed, Dallas is trying to win now, we're trying to rebuild, getting Rondo is a great move for Dallas.

I agree with the sentiment, but for different reasons.

I disagree that what Dallas gave up for him was stupid. They didn't get him cheap, but the value that they gave up was reasonable. They're trying to win now while Dirk is still productive, not build for the future.

However, Dallas implicitly committed to giving him a max contract next summer. I don't think he's worth it. That is the major reason why I didn't want to see him come here. He might be one of the top 10 PGs in the league, but I wouldn't rate him top 5. He's a good defender and passer, but he is ball dominant and is a poor shooter. He is going to get overpaid because of his years playing with the big three. I'd rather let someone else overpay him.

For that matter, I really don't see how he is going to fit on the Mavs. He will need to change his style a lot to fit in with their offense. That makes it a questionable move in my book. This could actually backfire on the Mavs, but we shall see.

For the same reason, he would have been a poor fit here. A ball dominant PG is not going to work with Kobe, and Rondo is not the kind of guy who would be a magnet for free agents after Kobe hangs it up.

It tells me he's a Scottie puppet type player who should have the ball in his hands to make plays. But he's playing with Kemba Walker. I would absolutely live if the Lakers had signed him. He'd be perfect taking play making duties away from Kobe.
