Despite Horrid Start To Season Lakers Tickets Continues To Top Pacific Division:
Quote:
the Lakers have continued to dominate at the box office. Much of the team’s secondary market success can be accredited to Kobe Bryant, who continues to put up All-Star caliber numbers on a team otherwise void of talent. Fans have still paid top dollar for tickets to home games at the Staples Center despite the team’s on-the-court woes and LA Lakers tickets average $223.86. The Lakers sit in the basement of the Pacific with the lights off, but the secondary market is alive and well for Byron Scott’s lackluster cast.

most of them are tourists. i know whenever my relatives come visit from china, they always want to go to the game so they can take a ton of pictures. face it, Lakers now is more of a tourist attraction than a legit basketball team.

10 dollars goes to someone that says the reason for this is because of Jeremy Lin and his fan-base.

I give it another 2 to 3 years. If we still are this horrid and the pathetic marketing nonsense that is kobe "last tour" is gone clippers will own LA.

If we are the Titanic, since the 76ers have been down so long they must be the lost city of Atlantis!

I am a season ticket holder in section 115. In that section, clearly Kobe and Lin are the 2 who get the most (practically all) of the fans support (besides opponents support which is at it's all time high, imo). In that section, there are a few people who regularly go to the games and the rest are always single game buyers and they fanatically cheer for Kobe and Lin to a lesser extent. Tons of asians like I have never seen before at games. Besides Hill, Swaggy and Davis, anyone else that shoots, you here someone yelling to stop and pass the ball to Kobe with people clapping in agreement. It will be an empty arena once Kobe is gone and if this team still sucks. Regardless of how much Kobe sucks this year, people are hoping he rediscovers his magic for one game.

The Lakers are, and always will be, the sexiest, flashiest show in town, even when they're tweening like they are right now. Even when our online message boards are swollen with autistic, migrant vespene farmers, like this one currently is, we're still the main course.

People don't necessarily come to the games to watch quality basketballl--they do, when the Lakers are playing it--but right now they're buying tickets to be able to say yeah, I came to a Lakers game and saw Kobe Bryant...live and in the flesh, baby. I have taste, I have culture, I did something cool. I've lived. There's no getting around the excitement still provided by this fading heirloom of a franchise.

Just try to pull up alongside some prostitute, roll down your window, and then flash a pair of floor seat tickets with a close-up photo of a pensive Blake Griffin on them. Not only will you drive away alone, but now you're going to have to find someone who will come to that Clippers game with you for free.

I guess the Lin investment is paying dividends. If only he could display more positives on the court.

Hey this is a team. You have to share that $10.
