Don't think its gonna change much from a German automakers perspective, but it should scare the Japanese automakers....since they now have a rival from South Korea that is serious about making performance cars. If you look at the lineup from the Japanese automakers they are sorely lacking in affordable performance cars. Honda and Toyota have abandoned the performance segment to make family cars and people movers.
If Honda and Toyota abandons performance cars, why would they be scared if Kia was serious about it?
Its a small market, but they would cede it to the Korean automakers.
Honda and Toyota have gone for profits as they should be, but they have left the enthusiasts with very little to be excited about with their lineup.

NSX isn't affordable for the majority of people.
Sure Toyota and Honda will still make halo cars like the LF-A and NSX, but unless you make 6 figures, good luck trying to buy one.
I'm talking about cars that were somewhat affordable to most people that they used to make like the S2000, Supra, Integra, RSX, etc.....

If they want to get real serious they should try to get Wolfgang Schreiber. He was the chief designer of the Bugatti Veyron.
The way that car performed in the video Mike posted was unblievable.. How could they go wrong? _________________ Be who you are and say what you feel because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind.

Sports cars and "sporty" cars don't account for many sales.
But they sell to influence makers.
Not only in the media but in the general population.
The guy that bought a Prelude in the past or a Toyota Scion FR-S is the kinda guy that is the "car guy" in his circle of friends and family.
And may influence another 12 purchases. If he buys an FR-S he is more likely to recommend Camry over Accord or Fusion.
Vice versa if he gets a Mustang.
If you cut sports/sporty cars out of your portfolio for budgetary reasons you feel the effects immediately. But a decade later you will.
Mazda has really built the brand around Miata's Zoom Zoom.
Without Miata Mazda would have gone the way of Isuzu.
When Toyota brought out the Lexus LS400 most thought BMW and MB did not have much to worry about either.
Not to mention Hyundai still has this image of low rate junk in the eyes of many consumers. So if they can change this image to match the quality and performance of Japanese and German cars it will definitely increase sales across their entire lineup of cars.
the optima is a nice looking car and the interior isnt bad at all.
It is nice, but from what I hear, it doesn't drive that great. I drove a 2013 model at the LA auto show a couple of years ago...it didn't feel terribly fast, at least as fast as its hp rating would belie.

2. Motorcycle
3. 89 Hyundai
4. 93 Passat
5. 95 300 ZY
6. 97 Mercedes SLK
7. 2004 Lexus 300SC

The Z car was the most fun and probably my most cherished. But after the 300SC was demolished by a drunk driver who slammed into me at 55 MPH, I think I'll stick to large SUV's the rest of the way on out, especially while my children have to be in the back seat. My SUV is paid for, but I'd consider the large Mercedes SUV because of safety reasons. But that's the only reason I'd take on another car payment. _________________ “It took many years of vomiting up all the filth I’d been taught about myself, and half-believed, before I was able to walk on the earth as though I had a right to be here.”

Yes, it was the SC430 and they didn't sale the ZX 300 twin turbo convertible in the US. If you wanted the TT, you had to have the T-Top. Something about chassis stability mixing with turbo engines back then. So I had the standard 300ZX, not the twin turbo. I think they did sale the TT in convertible in other countries. _________________ “It took many years of vomiting up all the filth I’d been taught about myself, and half-believed, before I was able to walk on the earth as though I had a right to be here.”

no they sold them here
Dealership lied to me then. Doesn't surprise me come to think of it. When my lease was up, they tried to stick me with an overage mileage charge. I had kept the contract and when I had them send me what they had, they had changed it after I signed it. My GF at the time was a lawyer so, she sent them a letter and the charge went away and they had to pay me some money to avoid taking them to court for fraud. We agreed to and I signed to 15k Miles per year. And I kept that contract. And I was under that. But when I turned the car in, there was an overage charge. Nissan said that I had agreed to 12K/yr. I asked them to show me the contract. They did so and it was obvious that the dudes at the dealership had literally changed the mileage after I signed the contract. I assume that was their standard technique because most individuals don't save the contract. If I hadn't, I would have had no recourse. _________________ “It took many years of vomiting up all the filth I’d been taught about myself, and half-believed, before I was able to walk on the earth as though I had a right to be here.”
