Tarik's tentatively targeted to return tonight, Thursday, but to tell the truth it could be Tuesday.

Backup center Tarik Black, mostly recovered after suffering a sprained ankle Dec. 5, has been available to the Lakers for a few games.

Quote:
But not until recently did Coach Luke Walton see that Black was truly comfortable on the court and not impacted by the injury during practice.

It’s part of why Walton has not played Black in the last three games despite activating him.

Another part has to do with the gradual nature of how Walton wants to reintroduce Black, who was an integral part of the Lakers’ second unit before his injury.

“Tarik’s got to be ready,” Walton said. “His opportunity will come again, whether there’s foul trouble or we’re not playing well as a team.

“ He’s going to have his opportunity again. When he gets his opportunity, if he’s ready and he plays the way he was playing earlier in the year, then he’ll probably earn that ... first crack at coming in again.”

Good to see you back. Hopefully Nance is back so I won't have to see TRob anymore

9 points, 9 rebounds in 14 minutes. Good hustle and muscle. Needs to improve on defense though.

Is he on a minutes restriction? Did he beg out of the game? There was no other reason to sub him out during that first half run.

Luke said after the game Tarik felt something with his ankle at half.

He was visibly limping when he played in the second half. Nice return tonight though.

Big difference on the floor too. It was like having Robinson with better hands, wingspan, and muscle when first got out there. Just a great 2nd/3rd bigman.

I said going into last season (2015) that if we had to roll with Black as our starter I could live with it.

Very nice to see TB back tonight. Great energy, as usual. Fingers crossed the limo wasn't much and he'll be ready to go next game. That second quarter he and TRob absolutely destroyed the Raptors on the glass.

Nice to see Tarik back. As someone else mentioned the end of the first/start of second quarter he and Robinson were wreaking havoc together.

Black is our best center. In world without contract hierarchy, Mozgov would be out of my rotation. Black would start. T-Rob and Nance would man the second unit.

False.

Russell/ Young/ Deng/ Randle/ Moz has been one of the best lineups on the team, and this is against starters, not bench players.

Officially the same number of double doubles as our starting C.

Tarik Black Suffers Ankle Injury Vs. Pistons

Quote:
The injury bug has been an issue for the Los Angeles Lakers this season and one player who has been affected is big man Tarik Black.

Black dealt with an ankle injury earlier this season which kept him out for nearly a month, but he has been back for a couple of weeks now and was just getting his form back. Unfortunately he may now have suffered another setback.
