How do you guys watch the games then come to this thread and talk about him at PF? Tarik just spent 30 minutes banging in the paint with the dpoy designate C and finished with 16/9 and a bunch of dunks and you want him to be a PF.

Height doesn't matter. Standing reach and wingspan and one step vertical matter.

His footwork and touch and shot mechanics are coming along very quickly. I'm very excited for the young fella. He's our backup C at worst moving forward.

You realize we still lost that game right? Just like the game before, etc, while still playing center? At center, he has defensive issues against the bigger and better player.

At PF, he would be able to keep up much more effectively, play defense much more effectively, and would overall play better at that positon. It's as simple as that.

The only reason he is playing center right now is because of the tank. Well that and all the other centers we have (or don't have in this case) are crap.

He is by definition a power forward. You try to play this guy a full season at center, you are asking for some serious injuries.

If you weren't watching the Portland and Clipper games, the 7 footers are giving him problems. If he can hit the mid-range jumper, we can slide him down to pf. Black will abuse second string pf.

I recommend the production by position section.

Mega, can't help them all, bro. He's like BS, playing players out of position. Kelly at small forward, lol.

Tarik is a keeper. Love his hustle and blue collar work, kind of like Jordan Hill when we used to like him.

I recommend actually looking at the evidence before suggesting I'm the one putting someone out of position...

http://www.82games.com/1415/14LAL14.HTM#bypos

Tarik gets to torched at PF and out plays his opponent at C, but go ahead and keep telling me he's a PF... nothing like dragging your best paint players out of the key because you decided they just can't be tall enough.

Don't insult me with your "analysis."

Article a few weeks ago.

Quote:
Byron Scott compared Tarik Black to a Kenneth Faried type player, says his biggest strength is how hard he works on the floor

Quote:
Byron Scott on some things Tarik Black can work on: "his jump shot from 15 feet or so and his post up."

Kind of like Jordan Hill when he was hungry playing for a contract not the Jordan Hill that got overpaid and then stopped producing. That Jordan Hill.

I'll take Tarik any day. You may not want him as the starter on a playoff team, yet, but he is a perfect bench guy. I hope the Lakers keep him.

Great attitude, will do what's best for the team to win. I like that.

Tark could work at either position, as long as he was with a good offensive counterpart. Since Randle doesn't shoot well, he doesn't pair well with him on the floor. If he plays pf, it is probably as Randles defensive backup. He is a keeper though, especially on the cheap.

According to Draft Expressway Tarik has the exact same reach at 8'11' but a longer wingspan by 2 inches at 7 '2.5".

Tarik is the ideal backup big. He plays so hard and can guard the 4 or 5. We found a gem.

I said this awhile back and completely agree. He's exactly what Jordan Hill was when we first got him.

Energy/hustle big off the bench for cheap

Quote:
Lakers' big man Tarik Black tied his season high with 16 points on Tuesday, shooting 6-of-9 from the field and 4-of-4 from the FT line with nine rebounds and one assist in 22 minutes.
Black has endeared himself to coach Byron Scott with sheer hustle, but it's not translating to reliable fantasy value -- in the past 10 games he was averaging only 9.2 points, 6.5 rebounds, 1.0 assists, 0.5 steals and 1.0 blocks. He does have four straight games with 10+ points, to his credit, and is a decent source of rebounds and FG percentage in deeper leagues.

Seen this guy play up close. He's fearless. He's a hard worker. He's physical. He's the kind of guy you want in there to do the dirty work.

He's (TB) one of the players that Coach Scott was referring to when he talked about who he could depend on if they were in a "fox-hole together."

TB gives it his all, all the time.

Quite true. Seems like a selfless individual who puts the needs of the team over his own. Kind of like the exact opposite of Nick Young.

He's a keeper....he's a rookie with lots of upside, doesn't hurt the cap, a hard worker, and a part of a piece to build a team.

18/10 for Tarik tonight in just 17 minutes.

His ceiling keeps getting higher and higher as he shows he is not just a dunk machine, though he is that too. If he can continue to improve defensively, especially with help defense, he's going to deserve a fair amount of money and playing time going forward.
