I have a trade idea that seems ridiculous at first and then makes more sense the more we look at it...
jordan hill, ed davis, wes johnson for tristin thompson and dion waiters
if anyone has been following the cavs can see that dion waiters has been the odd man out for some time now. A big push for kyrie on this very website was due to his rift with waiters. a recent vine that went viral showed waiters yelling at lebron asking for the ball before ultimatley just giving up and just standing there...
waiters is not playing to his potential and you can tell he's not happy and that is not good for team chemistry.
tristan thompson would be included in the deal for 2 reasons. one it makes the salaries match up and two there is the issue that he is in the final year of his rookie deal...
while normally it wouldn't be a big deal, thompson is represented by the same agent as lebron and as eric bledsoe...
bledsoe as you recall was in a standstill with phoenix that lasted almost up until training camp started.
thompson is going to comand a large contract that i'm not sure the cavs will be willing to give him, with Kyrie expected to enter into his max deal, love at near max and lebron at max...
hill gives the cavs what they would lose in trading away thompson, with added energy and rebounding... ed davis gives them even more of that with the added rim protector status that they cavs are sorely lacking...
any scoring they'd lose from waiters will be picked up by both kyrie and lebron.... with wesley they gain another defender... someone who can pick up the other teams scorer allowing lebron to save himself for the offensive end..
wesley could learn and grow into the roll that marion was supposed to fill...
the lakers get younger, and while they do give up ed davis, its expected that after the year he is putting up, he was going to opt out anyway and we were not sure if the team was willing to invest in him long term..
ed davis is 25 yrs old, wesley is 27, hill also 27... waiters and thompson are both only 23... the ceiling is higher on both of them and we could take advantage of a cavs team that needs to win now... |
