At this point last season, the Kings already had made two in-season trades to shake up their roster.

This season, the Kings have yet to make an in-season deal. But that doesn’t mean they’ve settled on their personnel.

While nothing the magnitude of last season’s trade for Rudy Gay is imminent, the Kings are exploring trades, with backup point guard Ramon Sessions the most likely candidate to be dealt.

According to a league source, the Kings discussed a deal that would have sent Sessions to the Los Angeles Clippers for guard Jordan Farmar. Sessions has missed the last 10 games because of a low back strain.

Sessions last played Dec. 22 at Golden State. He played six minutes in the first half before Ray McCallum took over backup point guard duties in the second half.

This has been a down season for Sessions, who has dealt with knee and back issues. He’s averaging 6.1 points and 2.5 assists in 17.1 minutes per game, all career lows for the eight-year veteran.

Entering the season, Sessions was expected to play a lot, including time with starting point guard Darren Collison and in three-guard sets. But he hasn’t been a big part of the rotation.

Farmar is averaging 4.6 points and 1.9 assists in 14.7 minutes per game off the bench this season. He is a career 37.4 percent shooter from three-point range, which would appeal to the Kings’desire for more perimeter shooters. He’s shooting 36.1 percent on three-pointers this season.

I bet poor Jordan is looking at the Lakers now and thinking, "They dumped me so they could get Ronnie Price?"

Is Jordan really going to help us long-term? He didn't really do much except not suck when he was here. I remember too many breakneck speed drives that ended up with a layup attempt that caromed strong off the backboard.
