Quote:
A source close to the Bulls tells SheridanHoops that eating the remaining money (roughly $11 million) and years (two after this season) on Thibodeau’s contract will not be a concern to management or ownership if they decide to fire him.

The feeling among some players in the locker room is that Thibodeau is simply too hardcore, too much of an oddball personality, and runs his best players into the ground both in practices and games.

Check out what K.C. Johnson of the Chicago Tribune tweeted this morning:

Quote:
Bulls did have Sunday off. But players talked about first 2-day break since Dec. 21 as chance to recover. Instead, Thibodeau calls practice.

Thibs is an elite coach, but the criticism that he runs players into the ground is a legitimate one and it's discouraging that he won't budge from his position.

Agreed. These hardcore types are excellent assistant coaches because they demand a lot out of the team and push, but they always have the head coach who can put on the brakes. As head coaches, it becomes an issue with today's players.

One of the best defensive minds in the game. Vitti's cauldron will be running full tilt if Thibs gets the call.

I'm shocked it took this long for the media to report things like this.

I was saying this exact thing MONTHS before Byron Scott was even hired. Thibs is an excellent coach. His players seemingly play hard for him. HOWEVER, he runs his players into the ground.

Luol Deng and Jimmy Butler have seen many a game where they played all but one or two minutes.

A coach like that would be a disaster for Kobe and other veteran players.

But hey, the Lakers would have a coach that is known for defense.. so.. it wouldn't matter, right? lol.

I hope the Bulls pull a 49er type move and can Thibs. We need to be waiting to snatch him up immmediately.

Well, in the short run would be a disaster with Kobe, probably playing him 35mpg and no games off. Oh wait, that was Coach Scott the first 30 games.

I'd take Thibs in a heartbeat even with these issues. Great coaches are hard to find.

People here are complaining about Kobe being thrown under the bus by Byron and the extended minutes he "makes him play" (I never believed this was Scott´s decission, really, but let´s suppose it was for the sake of the argument) .

Thibs would keep Kobe on the court for absurd amouts of time, and furthermore, by no means he would let him skip practice.

How does Thibs manage Rose? I don't see Rose being thrown under the bus. He's also made done and excellent job with Pau.

I think he could work with Kobe and his limitations too.

If the Bulls are firing Thibs for this why would we want him?

Brilliant tactician, but I'm tired of coaches who have glaring weaknesses in a certain area.

Mike Brown - Offense, Leadership qualities
Mike D'Antoni - Defense, Leadership qualities, System flexibility
Byron Scott - Offense, Defense, Stubbornness

Thibs - Player relations, Overworks team

nothing would piss me off more than if he gets fired then joins the clippers as an assistant.

Just give him yoga lessons, walks on the beach, and a girlfriend. He's eating too many deep dish pizzas and is tired of the frigid winters in Chicago.

it also coincides with absence of Jokim Hoah. he's no doubt the leader on that Bull's team.

Wouldn't surprise me if that happens. Ballmer has deep pockets. Not to mention they aren't going anywhere unless there is a change of philosophy.

Actually who am I kidding. He's a million times better than Scott. Beggers can't be choosers

Every change looks great now, and Thibs would have been great for both the Lakers and Kobe when the Lakers had the talent and Kobe had the legs. Now? I think it would be a bad marriage.

Thibs is famous for his extremely tough practice sessions and for taking players to their limits too soon in the season. Rose is a peculiar case. He just says "I don´t play for two games" and you just have to take it or leave the team.

¿Pau? Well, he´s playing way too much already. He was supposed to play around 30 minutes, but the stats show he was averaging like 37 some weeks ago (now 35 MPG) , and there were many 39, 40 minute games(even fifty-something against the Mavs, a game with one or two overtimes)

Seems to be one of those hi energy high intensity guys. They usually have a short shelf life with players before they get tuned out, unless they win some championships. Riles comes to mind. But even then the message wears thin after a while.

Bulls GM dismisses report that Thibodeau is on hot seat:

Quote:
“No,’’ general manager Gar Forman said in a text, when asked if there had been discussions about Thibodeau’s job security. “It’s not a story.’’

Quote:
“That was not a concern,’’ Gasol said. “To me, honestly, I don’t think Tom is that hardcore. I don’t think we practice that hard. We do what we need to do, and he tries his best with us just like we try our best. We have to get on the same page, not really pointing fingers but being positive with each other.’’
