Not all players mature athletically/physically at the same age, so there's always hope.

NO and NO

Tweeners you never ever take that high in a draft. He doesnt have the size to play the 2 and is he a real PG? To many questions.

Good thing some of you are not GMs.

Football players are listed barefoot so that picture makes sense. Russel is a legit 6'4-5 in the NBA depending on the shoes he wears to the combine

You just described the concerns about Damian Lillard & Steph Curry going into their respective drafts.

The notion of a "real PG" is almost as dead as the back to the basket center, people just don't know it yet.

It's a good indication when all the measurements are consistent with each other. Can't wait to watch him play in about 30 minutes. He should have a good game again.

Indiana vs Ohio state broadcast in 15 mins. Russell has had setting of impressive games so he's due for a mediocre one. I'm hoping he can show out and cement himself as a top 5 pick in everyone's eyes. Let's see

It's official in my mind....D'Angelo Russell needs to be considered as the number 1 pick in this draft. This is my guy in this draft.

To question whether this guy is a PG, is ridiculous, that's the exact position he's playing.

Exactly. He's running the offense 90% of the time

Think about what he may look like when he gets steph currys age. He's only 18 this may turn into another durant/oden rose/Beasley situation by the time the draft comes around. I have my popcorn

He's looking good today again, been on a roll.

He's moving up on my top 5. He may end up at 3, only behind Okafor and Towns.

Is it just me or does it seem like he's involved in every score Ohio state gets. Even it doesn't show up in the stat sheets he makes the hockey assist

At his height, he should have match up advantages over most point guards. He could be like a Harden type combo guard which this team needs IF he meets his potential. He'd automatically be more talented and better shooter than any point guard we currently have.

He's running the offense, yes, but he doesn't bring the ball up necessarily.

No different from Kobe running an offense.

Still, Kobe was/is very TO prone playing PG. Russell has a massive wingspan to make up for it, but he's more natural as a playmaking SG.

D'Angelo Russell is going to be a hybrid player, will play both PG and SG. His game does resemble Roy/Ginobli/Curry offensively, but his 6'9 wingspan will allow him to defend multiple positions. He's still only 18, could still have a growth spurt. Pippen grew 6 inches in one summer. I wouldn't be surprised if Russell ended up 6'7 in a couple years.

And that means he isn't a PG, or can't play the position?

I'd say he's capable, but it will be a steep learning curve. Playmaking shooting guards are effective when they threaten to score. Making him a point guard takes that away from him because it puts him in a position where he can't look for the shot as much unless you literally have another combo guard beside him.

More along the lines of isn't a PG imo. I never liked the idea of taking a guy who excels at scoring and play making and putting him in a position where he is responsible for making sure that every gets their touches, or the offense is run smoothly.

He's not a PG. So with a top 3 pick you would take a undersized SG?
