Kobe recruiting is going to be counter productive. Free agents can't bank on him being on the court. I really hope Kobe comes back next season and stays healthy enough for one final farewell tour. At this point, it doesn't look likely that he will be able to play beyond next year, if he can play most of next year at all.

on the plus minus side, if Kobe is not with the Lakers, it is the opportunity for a new star to rise here. So maybe its not bad that Kobe plays his farewell tour, others could be interested in stepping in...but you never know..

He defintely will come back healthier and of course with better roster for the final run in 2015-16 season. I do think his latest injury is not a season-ending one but better call it a day and be prepared for the next season healthier and stronger. With the current roster, there is no way to win it all. So, why not save your legs and be more physically fit with better roster?

Sounds perfect for me. And sounds pleasing to tanking crowd.

Would love for Kobe to come back next year but I'm not sure if he will be willing to go through the process one more time to rehab and get ready.

I do wonder if his decision hinges in part with how good the roster is after free agency.

Those around Kobe say he is definitively coming back to play next season. Doesn't want to go out like this.

Source: Kobe will also be active in free-agent recruiting for the Lakers, including pitches to possible future teammates in July.

Kobe wants to go for a 4 peat as in 4 season ending injuries in a row?

Stay classy.

As for Kobe, I think he'll come back next year for a farewell tour. Again, what's going to draw fans on a rebuilding team if Kobe doesn't come back? I doubt Kobe will know until next season progresses how much PT he can handle. If the possibility exists he could play 65+ games, he will. By the time he and the rest of us know that answer, I expect next season's $25M salary will be a sunk cost. So if Kobe comes back, whether he plays 65 games or 25, whether every game or every third game, I hope he sticks around all season. He draws fans.

Exactly I can't take any more of this crap, time to put the Lakers in hibernation until Jimbo gives up the team, or they sell it to someone who knows what they're doing.

The thing that sucks with the Dodgers, is even if they went 162-0, its the playoffs where the Dodgers season really starts. So, yah, that's how that one goes.

Yeah that's true, they do have problems in the playoffs...but at least we're pretty sure they're going to the playoffs. On top of that, we might finally be getting an NFL team out here. The Lakers are a complete disaster right now and if this continues for a few more seasons I suspect alot of their fanbase will lose interest!

IMO taken totally out of context. Big difference between laughing and giving people grief in a competitive scrimmage v. scowling and shaking a fist at Mitch.

Wasn't that suppose to be Kobe's M O for this season? With BS at the helm next year, it will be interesting to see his (mis)management of Kobe.

Yeah exactly. Everyone knows about the Charmin practice (after which the team played great, didn't they beat GSW after that? Lol). That post made it seem like Kobe yelled at Mitch about something.

First, he signed that ridiculous contract and can't even stay on the floor. Even when he stays on the floor he's one of the most inefficient players in the league! That is the guy eating up half of our cap. Ridiculous!!!

Plus remember he also drove out Shaq (the GOAT center) cus he was too selfish to share the spotlight with him. Ego and selfishness = disaster. Kobe should have been more like Magic/LeBron, unselfish team-first players.

Let me guess... Houston?

Agreed, man!

If Kobe was just like LeBron he would have as many titles as he does!

Burn, Kobe. Team-first, name-second, Shaq-#1-Kobe coattail riding noob.

C'mon man, terrible argument. Kobe never would have led those Cavs teams LeBron was on to anything. If LeBron had Shaq, they would have wrecked the league for like 7-8 titles probably.

I wasn't enthused with his Extension but I'm appreciative of everything he's done for the Lakers. I wouldn't have it any other way (except maybe re-configuring the Extension). I hope he comes back next year and has a proper farewell. We'll really miss him when he's gone.
