Kamenetzky: Post-Kobe injury, Lakers Need to Embrace Total Rebuild
(good article)

Quote:
it’s not like the current approach is working. The Lakers are on their way to the worst season since moving to L.A. more than 50 years ago… after setting the same distinction last season.

It also can’t happen without the front office being honest with itself. So as the trade deadline approaches, the Lakers have to find any and every deal helping them gain assets. Build, even incrementally, towards the future. Find new homes for Jordan Hill and Lin, and anything else not nailed to the floor another team might want. Find minutes for Jordan Clarkson, Ryan Kelly, and Tarik Black, young guys with potential to develop into rotation players by the time the Lakers are good again. If it means fewer minutes for Boozer and Ronnie Price, who cares?

TIME TO BLOW IT ALL UP!

I didn't dignify that article with a click. The quoted passage could have come from The Big Book of Duh.

This FO needs to do all it can to (bleep) land a top 3 pick. Lakers could be set for the future with either Okafor/Towns/Russell.

With Kobe's injury we should be doing whatever we can to add picks and keep our top 5 pick to get one of those three.

While our FO is against tanking it would be smart to do it for just this season as it would make us better in the long run.

Hopefully we can get something for guys like Hill, Lin, etc. at the trade deadline.

Wait. So we're not going after that 6th seed? All we need to do is win our every game this year.

Should have followed what Boston has done

Accumulated draft picks at a high level. At least they have a plan

We have no plan at all

Or some people fail to understand the plan.

Now the question is, with Kobe out and the rebuild on the way, are you confident with Byron to lead the rebuilding and take the team to championship? He will form team his way. If not, should not the FO takes actions earlier to find a coach who is capable? I know it is a bad PR but wasting another 2 years is even worse in my opinion.

Byron can be like Del, someone to get the team to point A, then you get the right coach to get them to point B, a title.

We have no plan at all. We are flapping around doing nothing while still thinking this is a premiere market for players to come too

The FO have this summer to turn it around for me otherwise they can all go Jeanie included who is absolutely delusional

Top players arent interested in coming here. We stroke out with Dwight and again last summer. Take the hint and do something else. This CBA was designed purely to hamper OUR team absolutely no question about it and the FO cant rebound to counter that

It is like remodeling your kitchen, when you are in demo mode everything is ugly, debris all over the place. But once the demo has finished and rebuilding begins, you can see things taking shape and progress. All the time, you can look at the plans to see what the finished product might look like. The Lakers are in demo mode until Kobe is gone, then they will be rebuilding. I know it is a shock to most Laker fans, but you can't compete every season. We went a decade without seeing the Finals before, but during that time they were in rebuild mode, and it ended up paying off. The FO has a plan, but it isn't something that can be completed in one season.

Well I guess most people trusted Dr Buss Remodeling Company, Inc.

The question is whether they still think the remodel will be done well after the owner is gone and the kids have taken over (I actually had a situation like this where I had the father of a company do remodeling and then the sons were handed the business).

Exactly what I came to this thread to say bro... seriously.

...I didnt even bother to click the thread because of the vast stupidity of it all. if the moron who wrote it didn't know already that we're rebuilding, why should I reward him with a click?
