Absolutely. Would be a great gesture by the Lakers.

He can be traded.. everyone who says he can't is spreading FUD. 30 days after claiming a player who is amnestied, a player can be traded.

The problem is that no contender would really want Boozer, because his defense is really, really bad.

Larry Coon said "most likely" in 2011, and I also found a separate source confirming http://espn.go.com/blog/truehoop/post/_/id/33976/what-we-know-about-the-amnesty-provision

Why don't you bring it up with Eric pincus then.

If he sees this, then let's see him clarify http://espn.go.com/blog/truehoop/post/_/id/33976/what-we-know-about-the-amnesty-provision

So Larry states that whether the player can be traded hasn't been confirmed. Why not ask larry coon?

this link also confirms it http://allsportseverything.com/2011/12/the-nbas-new-amnesty-clause-explained-cause-youve-asked/

Can teams trade players they’ve claimed via amnesty or are they stuck with them?

Yes, teams can trade their newly acquired players but must wait 30-days before doing so.

So we have several disputed accounts. Far from settled imo but I've never seen a trade of an amnestied player nor have I heard about it being permitted.

If we can trade him for assets we should. Otherwise, your kindness is a weakness.

No good reason to wave him actually...if we are fortunate and the FO sends Hill out, he could fill a need until next season...

I would think this link is both more accurate and more current since Larry maintains the web site.

NBA Salary CAP FAQ

69. What is the Amnesty provision?

Quote:

...The waiving team may not re-sign or re-acquire the player for the length of his contract (which includes seasons following an ETO or option), and the claiming team is prohibited from trading the player until the following July 1. If the player is eventually traded, his new team becomes the claiming team...

Larry does actively maintain the web site because the terms of the Boozer Amnesty are listed within the same section:

Code:

Team      Year   Amnestied player     Claimed by   Bid amount
Chicago   2014   Carlos Boozer        LA Lakers   $3,251,000

Voted yes instantly without looking through the thread.

Theres no need for us or reason to keep him if he wants to play anywhere else.

What more is there to say?

well, we could trade him and possibly get a 2nd rounder.. though it's unlikely.

Boozer CANNOT be traded. This info you posted is the most recent and up to date.

ESPN trade machine also reflects the restriction on Boozer.

Houston waived Luis Scola in Summer 2012 and Phoenix claimed him.

Scola appeared in 82 games (started 67) for the Suns during the 2012 - 2013 season.

Luis Scola

He was then traded in late July 2013 to the Pacers.

Gotcha so basically a one year moratorium which doesn't apply to boozer.

Yes.

If I was in charge, I would be looking hard at D-League rosters at 4 - 5 types and give Boozer his release so that he would be able to go elsewhere and possibly be in the Playoffs.

The deadline for Boozer to be released and still be eligible for the Playoffs is March 1. So the Lakers still have about a month to work with if they plan on doing that Goodwill gesture for Carlos.

Thank you Bard. That is the correct citation.

FYI: There is no dispute. Eric is careful and Larry is generous with his time. Eric will clear any matter impacted by the CBA with Larry.
