Can you all help me compile a list of the free agent Centers for this off season?
Names I have heard:
1. Greg Monroe
2. Robin Lopez
3. Marc Gasol
5. LaMarcus Aldridge (is he a center? I thought he was a PF)
6. DeAndre Jordan
7. Roy Hibbert
8. Ed Davis
Am I correct with these? Are there any others you can think of?
Do you think the Lakers have a good chance of getting one of the better guys? |

I would go after Omer Asik if he can be had for $10-12M assuming Lakers have no shot at Gasol. _________________ #11/08/16 America became GREAT again

I just googled it:
Revised List:
1. Greg Monroe
2. Robin Lopez
3. Marc Gasol
4. LaMarcus Aldridge (is he a center? I thought he was a PF)
5. DeAndre Jordan
6. Roy Hibbert
7. Ed Davis
8. Omer Asik
9. Brook Lopez
10. Al Jefferson
11. Vucevic
12. Enes Kanter
13. Brandon Wright
14. Tyson Chandler

That's odd that they didn't mention Greg Monroe.
LMA is a PF, and Al Jefferson doesn't play defense....but that leaves more than 10 decent centers for the Lakers to go after. |

Why?
Much better players to spend 10-12 mil on |

On the above list, the only names I would look at would be:
Robin Lopez, Enes Kanter, Brandon Wright.
Assuming we draft a center with the 2-4th pick, I'd get someone who can carry the 24-30 minutes a game and mentor the Okafor, etc. until they are ready. I'd want someone I could sign for $3-4 million a year.
If we want Asik, we should trade him for Hill and Lin now. |

Chandler is a bit long in the tooth to be a top target. |

I wouldn't mind Chandler as a stopgap or last resort, in case we got turned down by all the other guys. For me its:
1) Gasol
2) Jordan
3) Lopez
4) Monroe
5) Hibbert
6) Koufos
7) Chandler
8) Asik
But it really depends on price. |

I know it's probably unrealistic, but if possible, would like to avoid centers who can't shoot FTs, and are completely one-sided (defense only). The optimal result for me is Robin Lopez, who is in a good price range and is good at both. _________________ From 2-10 to the Western Conference Finals |

Yeah Lopez is ideal, if he's willing to come (That was my money neutral ranking). The BBall IQ factor can't be underestimated either.
I don't view Jordan and Chandler as one way players though. To me, that's more like Asik. |

I agree about DJ. I just have a hard time seeing him leave the Clippers to join the Lakers, of all teams.
Chandler is just too old for me at this point with our hopefully younger core. _________________ From 2-10 to the Western Conference Finals |

hey Jordan might leave the clippers he will be looking for more cash and they might want to short change him,
since the GMs son has to be sign too he might get max deal from his daddy
for me realisticly
omar asik would be good and maybe even tobias harris good pick ups for what we can possibly get if the big dogs stay with there teams |

I think Lopez and Jordan will be Lakers targets and in that specific order. Lopez fits the Lakers bill with his often injured career etc., but Jordan gives the Lakers a young athletic defensive minded center capable of the running the floor and getting the easy layup. That's definitely what the Lakers need!
I have a feeling Monroe is an East minded player, meaning he rather stay in a weaker conference in order to continue to shine. I doubt he wants to come to the West coast. Jordan and Lopez are west coast guys hands downs, Lopez is actually from Cali. The only other name on that list that's pretty interesting is Tyson Chandler, I doubt Dallas would let him walk, because they won a championship with him, but he may want to finish his career where it all started back home in LA.
Players like Aldridge and Gasol are pipe dreams and wouldn't get to be on the Lakers roster.
I've said this before and will say it again, I believe the Lakers will draft a true Center and look to acquire one who's capable of playing the 4/5. The only one on that list is really Monroe, but as I stated before he seems to favor the eastern conference. We should be able to resign Davis and Wright is actually another interesting prospect who could play the 4/5 combo as well. |

Lopez signed for a low contract last time and then blossomed a bit. This time around, I expect him to look for $10-12 million a year. |

Me too. Might have to overpay, but still probably worth it if LA doesn't draft a center. Then I look at Koufos or Davis. _________________ “We must always take sides. Neutrality helps the oppressor, never the victim. Silence encourages the tormentor, never the tormented.” ― Elie Wiesel |

What LA really needs to come out of the off season with is a defensive center and at least one impact offensive player who can create something at positions 1-3, preferably two.
Possibilities might look something like:
Russell/Lopez/quality wing (Mathews or Green perhaps)
Towns/Dragic/Davis (or Koufos) _________________ “We must always take sides. Neutrality helps the oppressor, never the victim. Silence encourages the tormentor, never the tormented.” ― Elie Wiesel |

Which Green? Draymond, Danny, Gerald, or Jeff? Middleton would be a nice wing pickup too. |

Danny, but I was just throwing out examples. Russell/Lopez/Middleton is VMY _________________ “We must always take sides. Neutrality helps the oppressor, never the victim. Silence encourages the tormentor, never the tormented.” ― Elie Wiesel |
