Sam Elliot as the main villain? Gotta say I'm enjoying that. He's got more gravitas than all the previous big bads combined.

They're bringing him in slowly, still a lot of mystery. Justified is my favorite current running show, hate to see it go but I'm sure it will go out with a bang. Fire in the hole!

Boyd has got to be one of the coolest, smoothest talking characters in TV history.

Huge Justified fan. Seen every episode. I'm gonna miss it when it's gone.

It's been in my top 10 shows year after year since it started.

Definitely.

I think this is building up to be an epic final season. The Walker character is about on par with previous big bads (especially the white haired dude from season 3), and I feel he's a match for either Raylan or Boyd individually (the writers did a great job of building him up). But add Avery into the pot and you've got something that can't be handled alone.

I'm hoping this turns into a prolonged end-of-season-1 moment where Boyd and Raylan have to work together to take on these guys. Perhaps it'll even end with them walking into the sunset (which, to be honest, would be a nice change of pace from the recent trend of depressing endings).

Same. My only nitpicking issue with the show is that they film it in SoCal where I grew up, so it's hard for me to believe it's Kentucky XD.

Favorite scene is when random scary guy comes into Raylan's room with a gun. Scary guy had a trick where he'd put a gun on the table and stab the other guy when he reached for it.
Raylan moved the table cloth and blew the guy away.

Raylan's a modern day cowboy who's always the quickest on the draw.

Never knew that. Never been to green valley.
I live in LA, and I believed they were in Kentucky.

Love the characters on the show. Great writing for an cop show. And Timothy Olyphant is charismatic. I liked him in Deadwood as well.

Icepick dude was cool, would have preferred an extended role for him on Justified rather than the crap he did on Dexter.

Yeah there's a ton of it filmed in SCV. Sometimes they're filming in the "backwoods" and I know they're just in this little patch of greenery off a main road I know lol.

Yeah, the showdown at Loretta's house was awesome. She was gonna poison that dude, right?

Not much happened tonight. Have to admit, not a fan of the Ava CI storyline thus far.

I'll agree that Ava's storyline isn't directly interesting but it (and the land buying) does allow for some older characters to come back and current ones to participate in a realistic way. In some shows it's cheezy, but I think it works here so far. They could go a bunch of ways. You have to wonder if Boyd's current plan could bring him and Raylan back to their mine days, or if we will end up at Ava's table in the end. They really have a very deep strong supporting cast this season, maybe that's why Ava/Raylan scenes seem a little weak.

I'm most interested in the Walker/Avery dynamic. They talked about splitting Boyd and Raylan and taking them out of the picture, but from how the conversation went it seems like they're more likely to go after each other.

Most weeks, going into the episode I'm not overly excited.
But as soon as the show starts I'm hooked.
Solid season thus far.

Great season so far. I am getting a feeling of dread though, knowing it is wrapping up. Raylan's advertising his move to everyone, not giving a rats. He's also acting like kind of a selfish jerk or moreso than before. Too much about the past and the future in a fight to the death. Markham does not seem like the forgiving type. Or without resources elsewhere. Ava - great acting this season, better than ever. Raylan doesn't seem to be too concerned with his former woman. Everything is about getting Boyd and getting out.

Damn, I was sad when I learned that Ty Walker's character had to be written off due to the actor's schedule, but this Boone guy is better than the 3 rangers combined. He's got a certain tension about him, just might be Raylan's killer (though I hope not).

Also, all these scenes are nerve wracking since its the final season. I totally expected one of the main characters to die this ep.

I was half expecting for Boyd to get killed but part of me knew it wasn't gonna happen that way if he was gonna die. Too much tension, if they kill off a main character it'll be a quick death.

Loretta has got some balls on her. She is gonna play a big part in how everything ends between Ralyan, Boyd and Markham AKA the Dude's narrator, IMO.

Yeah, the scene that had me on edge was the last one with Boyd and Ava. I expected him to sit down and quickly shoot her dead as she tried to talk her way out.

Good episode last night.

I think Loretta will get killed by Markham.
I also think Raylan will get shot, and I hope Boyd saves his life...while getting away.

Sort of lame last night IMO. Redheaded guy comes back for what reason? Loretta was good, but basically a treading water episode. I guess the Wynn Duffie reveal was all right and Boyd looked pretty scared. Markham laid down more disturbing vibes to Raylan. About it.

That could be, and would be a nice direction to go. The punk kid introduced late doesn't deserve to be the one that gets to shoot Raylan, but it may be only fitting as he's what Raylan would have been if he would have taken after Arlo.

Thing is though, "The Promise" is "you will never leave Harlan alive". I really feel like that goes for both Boyd and Raylan, one stays in Harlan and the other or both dies. I've been wondering about Boyd dropping the Nicky Augustine card at the end of season 5, will that come back up? You may be right about Loretta, or maybe he makes an "un"justified defense for his family like he did with Augustine, as he sees Loretta like a daughter in a way.

I think the episode was a good bridge to move the story along, but there was also anticipation. By the party scene they had so many lines being drawn that you really didn't know what was coming next. Solid episode, hate that this is the last season they really are bringing it.
