Is he the guy who said he didn't want to play pro basketball anymore? I know it was someone from the Bucks.
Regardless, it seems like he has a lot of personal (drug) problems.
Seems like the Lakers don't go for these types of guys who aren't squeaky clean. |

Larry Sanders head isn't in it. I honestly think that there might be some problems going on with Larry beyond drugs. Seems that he needs help more than he needs basketball. _________________ "It's just a job. Grass grows, birds fly, waves pound the sand. I beat people up."-The Greatest |

Yes please. We have nothing to lose...except for more games.
We would get to test him out rest of season. He wont be playing/infecting Randle if he still has issues and we can just let him go if it doesnt work out. |

None. Let him take a year off, figure out what he wants to do with his life. I'm certain that basketball is the least of his concerns right now _________________ From 2-10 to the Western Conference Finals |

This. Basketball is a business and we all want to find a diamond in the rough but this might be the best thing for this kid. |

He's no different than Ed Davis. Had Davis been playing in the Eastern Conference, he would be dominating just like he was, especially with starter minutes.
No Thanks, at first I was thinking of trying to get Brandon Knight and maybe including Sanders in the deal, but after thinking it through I would have to pass. |

http://basketball.realgm.com/wiretap/236678/Larry-Sanders-To-Receive-$13M-Of-Remaining-$40M-On-Buyout
Quote: | Larry Sanders and the Milwaukee Bucks have agreed upon a buyout, a league source tells RealGM.
Sanders is expected to receive $13 million on the rest of his $40 million contract. |
Quote: | @WojYahooNBA
Sources: Once Larry Sanders buyout is complete with Milwaukee, there's presently no plan for him to sign elsewhere in NBA this season. |
If he was refusing to play that is messed up that he gets paid anything let alone 13 million. |

I can't believe there were folks here talking about trading our #7 pick for a package that included Sanders. Sigh. _________________ From 2-10 to the Western Conference Finals |

I just skimmed through a discussion about it and the Bucks fans are also curious about the particulars of the buyout.
At the moment, it is unknown if the announced buyout number is strictly for the next three years of his contract or if it would be for the remainder of this season + the next three years. |

Huh? I'm pretty sure most of us had a fantasy of drafting Smart or Exum at #7 and trading Nash's expiring for Sanders. |

Different web sites have it as between $13 - $15 million for the three future seasons on the contract.
Here is one...
It’s official: Bucks reach buyout deal with Larry Sanders
Quote: |
The two sides reached an agreement on a buyout that will pay Sanders between $13 million and $15 million (depending upon which report you believe) of the $33 million he is still owed after this season. The Bucks will use the stretch provision on his contract to lessen the hit to their salary cap (he will remain on the books for seven seasons but at a greatly reduced cap number).
|
Doing the Stretch Waiver results in relatively small differences between $13 million versus $15 million.
65. What happens when a player is released? What are waivers? What is the Stretch provision?
Quote: |
If the player is waived from September 1 to June 30, then the current season is paid per the normal payment schedule, and any remaining years are stretched over twice the number of years remaining plus one as described above.
|
3 (Future years) X 2 = 6
6 + 1 = 7 years
$15 million ÷ 7 = $2,142,857 @ year
$13 million ÷ 7 = $1,857,143 @ year
One web site has adjustments already made for the Bucks payroll going forward, though it only has through the 2019 - 2020 season visible and they have it as $15.2 million total.
Milwaukee Bucks Team Payroll
2015 - 2016
$2,170,000
2016 - 2017
$2,170,000
2017 - 2018
$2,170,000
2018 - 2019
$2,170,000
2019 - 2020
$2,170,000
Other than Dudley and Middleton, the Bucks have no other significant player contracts to negotiate this Summer. |

Much appreciated Bard207!
Looks like the Bucks made out ok. That's not a horrible cap hit all things considered.
I wonder how much they're willing to go on Middleton now |

Probably more than the Lakers would want to pay. Perhaps $10 million at a minimum and towards the $12 million area.
The trade of Knight and the buyout of Sanders could have larger implications in that Milwaukee will have sufficient Cap Space to contest with the Lakers and other teams for some Free Agents. It could make it more difficult for other teams to lowball Free Agents if the Bucks are also participating this Summer.
Marc Gasol might be too expensive for the Bucks to chase, but pursuing players (Robin Lopez?) in the $12 - 14 million area might be doable.
If MCW is able to improve his outside shot and stay healthy, the Bucks could be a very nice team. |
