Newsflash, Byron ain't tanking... |
you mean he was actually trying all this time? That makes it worse... I just thought he was doing all those strange substitutions to help the tank, now it turns out he's TRYING??? Ohhhh... (shakes head)... |
Why was Swag benched? Gotta play him if trying to lose. |
Swag injured. |
Did he twist his knee while celebrating the championship the other night? |
Hill probably stepped on his foot during all the giddiness. |

On the other hand, Dante Exum... a player considered a top 5 pick in one of the so called strongest crop of players in recent memory scores only 3 points.
Is there anyone within our grasp this draft that would fully justify an all out tank?
I honestly don't know... but I'm thinking that those of us that think a top 5 pick will fix all our woes are a bit over optimistic. |

We simply want to keep our pick and get an asset as opposed to giving it away for no reason! Just that simple! Main goal for Lakers this year keep the pick! |

Nobody is naive to think one player will fix all of our problems in this draft....
But he can fix a need that this team desperately needs...
If we draft a 7 footer with a top 5 pick, we would fix our undersized center position. |

It's not that. We sucked an egg this season and potentially have nothing to show for it. If we were borderline playoff team this season no one would think about tanking. Also cap space got us nothing this off season so no one has any hopes for the off season either. All we have to hope for is a young core built through the draft and chances of a franchise player is usually top 10 in the draft which is at risk because of a bs trade for Nash. It's top 5 or bust. |

Oh come on. You know part of you would be excited and happy if that happened. |
I think he would be entirely excited if we land Okafor, Cauley-Stein, or Stanley Johnson _________________ "Tryin' to get that Kobe number, One Over Jordan"

@foshowtime
If we get the pick this year... we still lose a pick the following year, which could be a stronger draft
@lakersken80
Is there a top 5 quality 7 footer available this year?
@bennylava
same thing I said to foshowtime...
I want the pick too, because I'm impatient... but I'm thinking if by some chance we blow it, it won't make that much difference anyway.
Please correct me if I'm wrong about this. |

Jahlil Okafor-Duke (projected overall #1) Really 6 ft 11, but you if you want in him action you can see why he is projected to be the top pick.
Karl-Anthony Towns-Kentucky (projected overall #3 or #4) 7 ft. |

I'll take Exum in a heartbeat over Swag. Haven't you had enough of Sacre and Wes? A top five pick would bring some hope. _________________ Smrek 2, Nevitt 1, Barkley 0 |

No way we are bottom 10 next season. If we are the FO has seriously lost the plot. Unfortunately if FA goes like this season there is no way we are a playoff team either. Thus begins the slow decent into staying in mediocrity.
Also can you talk another year of this?

Only positive in tonight's win is the #46th pick (Jordan Clarkson) in this years draft dropped 22 points on the #5 overall pick Dante Exum. (3Pts LOL)
Utah should of drafted Julius Randle or Zach Lavine. Exum has been horrible _________________ "Tryin' to get that Kobe number, One Over Jordan"

So you're saying you can put up with another 20 game season?
I sure as hell had enough. I want some promise. A glimmer of hope.
I want some resemblance of rebuilding and stability. I'm done with one year rentals whom I can't get behind and root for. |

Exum is still young and extremely raw.
In another 2 yrs he'll probably look as good as Clarkson.
But we still got a gem in Clarkson. But a lot of Clarkson's improvement can probably be directly attributed to Steve Nash training him. |

Right now If only it was as simple as that, we would have a team of all star point guards |

I know Exum looks terrible right now, but what is he like 19? He is the rawest out of all the draft picks this year. I don't expect anything out of him until 3 or 4 years down the road. |

I know Exum's potential is high but there could be a chance he flops in the NBA.
he was doing great on an international team. Which usual means he would come to the NBA killing. Like Brandon Jennings in his rookie year. Not the case at all for Dante.
He very well might not have enough talent to shine as a point guard particulary playing in the Western Conference.
He might just end up being a serviceable backup point.
It sure is looking that way from what he displayed this season. _________________ "Tryin' to get that Kobe number, One Over Jordan"

Everytime I hear Byron Scott, I sense he's losing grip on this team. I don't think his players think he's relevant anymore. And I don't think management thinks he's relevant anymore.
Anytime you hear a manager (a coach in this case) emphasize and bring attention to the fact that he's the boss (in this case the head coach), you know he's lost respect of his players. If the players have to waste psyche and emotional energy having to deal with the coach, his energy is diverted from his game. I can't think of a worst coach to play for. |

So it totally kills the players emotionally if they actually have to be under the authority of a coach? Give me a break. |

I also want change, but I don't think that starts until Kobe retires and Scott's gone. I've seen nothing this season that leads me to believe he has a master plan or vision beyond catering to Kobe's ego.
I've watched nearly every game this season and have suffered as much as anyone else on this board... but all I was asking was whether this tank will really fix things. One of the other posters pointed out Okafor and the other 7 foot prospect and they do sound promising although it seems unlikely that we will get either of them. Don't get me wrong... I hope we get one... but the odds seem long. It's too bad we didn't treat Pau better or this season might have looked a whole lot different. |
