What reward exactly ? It's not like he's gonna start to be a good shooter a good free throw shooter or get his athleticism back. He will still hold the ball, slow the game down, be an average defender and he will clutter the floor for his teammates.
Not only that but he's a poor fit to Randle and Kobe anyway.
The Lakers FO will probably sign Rondo if they miss on everybody else though. I don't think they can stop themselves. |

All this Rondo talk is all about the fall-back plan just in case the Lakers can't sign anybody but we all know at worse the Lakers will finish the off-season with guys like Amir Johnson and Danny Green which isn't that bad when you think about it.... you add guys that make you competitive and gain trade assets in the process. |

If Rondo is signed, will the Lakers give Clarkson a real chance to be the starting PG or is it going to be gifted to rondo without his having to earn it? _________________ From 2-10 to the Western Conference Finals |

Espn's the Herd radio show just stated a few minutes ago that the Lakers are torn on signing Rondo... A majority of us Lakers fans do NOT want this guy in purple & gold! |

I think it boils down to this:
1. Lakers won't sign Rondo to the max, or near max. (0% chance).
2. at 10-12m, Lakers may try to drive the $ down. (40% chance).
3. at 6-8m range, Lakers may be intrigued, particularly if the term of the contract is only 2 years. (65% chance).
4. if Rondo somehow agrees to under 5m, I feel that the Lakers will assuredly sign him (100% chance).
Of course, it depends on a few things as well:
1. whether we draft Russell
2. whether we sign Dragic instead. _________________ From 2-10 to the Western Conference Finals |

It's a shame we didn't sign Isiah Thomas. He was the better PG of the two in Phoenix _________________ Author of James Harden and the Strip Club

The guy I really wanted was Kyle Lowry last year. But we were tied up with Melo/LBJ and Lowry slipped away. He's slipped this year, but that was the kind of gritty PG I would have liked. _________________ From 2-10 to the Western Conference Finals |

I agree. My point with Rondo continues to be that if you can sign Rondo underneath your terms (2 years or less & 5mil per a season) after all your other signings. He's worth it.
I wouldn't prioritize him by any means but I would consider him if we filled out the roster with a max FA like Love or Aldridge. _________________ Author of James Harden and the Strip Club

My best guess is the Lakers will approach Rondo using the same kind of reasoning that I put in the post. If he's ok with say 6m, I think the Lakers will sign him. _________________ From 2-10 to the Western Conference Finals |

Danny Green is probably a more valuable player than Rondo at the moment. |

No doubt in my mind that if they sign Rondo Clarkson either becomes Kobe's backup next season, or the sg while Kobe plays the 3. I'd like to see Clarkson remain at the 1, I think that's where his future as a starter is. At the 2, he doesn't hold the same physical advantages. _________________ "It's just a job. I guess my point is that if Rondo is signed, one would hope he would earn his job. But knowing him, the team would probably have to let him start lest he engage in pouting off the bench. _________________ From 2-10 to the Western Conference Finals |

I'm just going to assume that the Lakers will not sign Rondo because they are not stupid. |

Stay far far away from this team cancer Lakers. There's no excuse to signing him.
Sign Lin for the max. Sign Price for his. All preferable to signing Rondo to the min |

There's no way that the Lakers FO signs him now after his melt down with the Mavs. If they sign him it will be for Kobe and not thinking about the future. They were fooled once with Nash, they won't make the same mistake signing Rondo. |

Honestly now this thread serves no purpose other than confirming what most of us already know for a long time.
Mods, LOCK THIS THREAD UP PLEASE! |
Why? He's still a free agent, still a possibility for the Lakers and nothing has been decided.

He's not on the freaking Lakers. If he does become one, than open it back up.
The fact this thread was made in the first place is a joke. He's not a Laker now nor has he ever been. Their should never be an official player thread for non Lakers. _________________ Darvin Scam: https://media.tenor.com/images/3c15249955860a4b16b59e8ae035fb75/tenor.gif |
