The deal just means he has a job for the next 9 games. The next year is a team option so I believe the team can still cut him.

They could but offering it now shows they think there's a good chance they keep him next year. I'm sure he's happy!!

April Fools Day is a good day for him!!

I don't think so. I googled Jabari Brown and injury and nothing showed up with him having any injuries.

It is even better than a team option, which would require the team to make that decision before free agency. It is non guaranteed, which means the team could cut him any time they want. Obviously, he would get certain amounts guaranteed by being kept on the team during the season, but even then, they have a couple months before the full salary gets guaranteed.

Pretty good move. Give the kid some cash, but keep him motivated to improve over the summer. Hope he makes the team next year.

This is what the Cavs did after getting LeBron. They sign three guys to non-guaranteed contracts, and flipped those guys in the trade for J. R. Smith.

I doubt it a motivation ploy. More a valuable trade asset that can wipe some money off a teams books in a hurry.

I haven't seen enough games recently to know, but has he seen some time at the point this year with the team? IRC, he played some PG in college.

He fared well in the SL and was hoping he'd make the team. He'd be a nice combo guard to come off the bench next season.

Great move by the Lakers. He certainly belongs in the league. They did a great job of finding young talent this year, with Clarkson, Randle, Black, & Brown. Lots of cheap assets.

Only if they picked up Whiteside too.

I was just thinking last night as I was watching the game, is Jabari Brown kind of like a very poor man's James Harden? I know he doesn't shoot as well but he does seem to get a lot of freethrows.

If he can become a poor man's Harden off the bench next year I will be ecstatic. He definitely has a knack for getting into the lane and getting fouled, but I can't tell if he's holding the ball way out on front of him like Harden or not. Apparently it's the most effective play in the NBA though, so hopefully he gets it down.

This player is another nice find by the front office. He plays solid defense, hits open threes and he seems to get to the line at a good rate. I also noticed that he is a good ball handler and passer. He gets more assists then Clarkson sometimes. Can't ask for much more from an undated rookie. He's a good third string SG with potential to be a good 6th man like Young was.
