There is Lakerpark. Question is can the Lakers rid themselves of Kelly or do they have the gonads to flat out release him and eat the contract.

Before last night (which was awful shooting, though he still contributed with 5 assist), Kelly had been playing solid since getting moved back to playing the 4. Some recent games:

4/5 vs Clippers: 9 points (2/5 fg, 2/3 3pt), 7 rebounds, 6 assist
4/1 vs Pelicans: 12 points (5/9 fg, 1/4 3pt), 1 rebound, 3 assist
3/30 vs 76ers: 16 points (5/9 fg, 3/6 3pt), 7 rebound, 4 assist, 4 blocks too

He posts 3 games because we've been talking about how Kelly is playing better as of late as he is playing the power forward position instead of being put at the 3.

You'd know this if you'd take a second to think about it or read any part of the thread.

yall are real hard on a 2nd round draft pick making less than 1m a year. it's not his fault the team is so (bleep) that he's getting regular minutes.

he's a 3rd string pf who's been put in a situation where he's asked to do more than he can do out of necessity. My guess is that he'll have a long "journeyman" NBA career, but should not be sniffing starting lineups.

This scrub is making over 1.5 million more than minimum Wes Johnson, dumbass contract by Mitch. You know we sacrificed a decent prospect in Bazemore for this guy. I don't know man

you're right he's making 1.5 mil. still pennies.

there's a lot more bazemores in the world than there are kellys. jabari brown for example. it's just a fact that if you're bigger you are more rare.

So 3 games is good enough for you too Chronicle? And the 44 games before that, regardless if he was playing PF or SF...32% shooting...2 RPG...doesn't mean anything...let's focus on those 3 semi good games...some of you guys we'll make excuses for this clown regardless of the facts.

Are we stuck with this guy next year? I just looked at his contract and it says $1,724,250 for next season. What a waste of cap space.

I'm not sure I follow? Are you expecting him to carry us to wins? Heck, our whole team is putting up empty stats considering we have won 26% of our games.

There's a HUGE difference if he's playing the 4 or 3, and yes it has an effect on his fg %. At the 3 he has wings guarding him where he has 0 advantage over them, they have no problem guarding him on the perimeter. However when he's at the 4, it's a whole different aspect. Big's don't want to be drawn out to the 3pt line, so either they leave him open or open up the Lane by guarding him. Kelly HAS advantages over 4's unlike 3's.

Talk about facts? He's raised his fg% about 4 points since playing the 4. Those games I listed are 3 of the last 5 games he's played. Do I need to go back further?

11 points, 8 rebs 2 asst against Minny. 16 points, 5 rebounds 2 asst vs okc. That's 5 of 9 games since he's been starting at the 4 he's played solid.

there has to be a way to get rid of this jelly doughnut... He has no business playing the minutes he's getting he is not a long term piece.. I'm guessing the lakers are gonna try to trade him for a small TE.

Kelly isn't very good but isn't that bad. BS put him in awkward situation, just magnify his weak points.

Since Kellu has started at the 4 (9 games) he has averaged 9.9 points, 4 rebounds, 3.3 asst, 1 blk and 1 Stl. Before last nights awhile performance, he was shooting 44% fg in the games he started at 4, and 42% from 3. Both were lowered big time last night to 38% fg and 36% 3.

...1.7 mill? Are you serious?!

Wow. Biggest waste of 1.7 mill probably ever.

Honestly, I'd rather just cut him. I'd rather pay him for not being on the team next year than keep seeing him bricking every open shot.

Kingspin your arguments are pretty humerous...nonetheless you're entitled to your opinion...maybe the Lakers will keep him around next year...just in case we need a tank insurance policy.

TOO busy pump-faking and stretching the floor to worry about rebounding.

Kelly is like Steve Novak. Only difference is Novak makes open 3s. Other than that, he is a perfect clone!
