|
|
So I just finished season 3 of Continuum and am waiting on the 4th and final season but I'm wondering if there are any other hidden gem sci-fi shows?
I've seen X-Files and Lost(if that counts), Warehouse 13 in kinda cool, Helix and 12 Monkeys havent really caught my interest but maybe I'll give em another shot...
I really like the Fringe and Continuum with the multiple timelines/universes and the fact that they're not procedurals(Fringe kinda was in the beginning but changed) which is one reason why I gave up on Supernatural(just a "freak of the week" each episode gets boring).
So I ask my fellow Nerds, based on the shows I said I liked, what else should I check out or any shows I need to watch?
And BTW, if you havent seen Continuum, you should DEFINITELY check it out. |

How recent?
I suppose Space: Above and Beyond and Sliders are too old?
Probably one of the best sci-fi shows in recent times has been Eureka. |

Anything that started after the 90's so it doesn't seem too dated. I watched Sliders when it originally aired and really enjoyed it.
Heard of Farscape, havent heard of Space: A&B. Will look into both. |

I don't know if you're into anime or not, but look into Cowboy Bebop and Ghost in the Shell, just to name a couple off the top of my head. _________________ Lakers. Built different. |

This. And depending on where you left off on Supernatural, seasons 4 and 5 have the least amount of MotW episodes. |

The constant cast/plot changes finally wore me out, but that was a great show for a few years. The banter between Sheriff Carter and Nathan Stark was priceless. It is a shame that Eureka wound up on the freaking SciFi network. |

Gotcha. Yeah I made it to the 2nd season I think. Maybe I'll give it another go if it gets better like Fringe did once it stopped being MotW style. |

Orphan Black. Best sci-fi show on TV. Surprisingly amazing actress in Tatiana Maslany. You should check it out.
Also give 12 Monkeys another shot. Best SyFy show by far, better than Defiance, Helix, and the other crap shows in Dominion, Z-Nation, etc.
Recommend Falling Skies. It's not an amazing show but it's pretty good, very enjoyable, and great characters. |

Star Trek: the Next Generation
For all-time TV, pretty good. For network TV it's one of the greatest. For Sci-Fi TV it's up there with the X-Files. For Star Trek sagas it's the best one of them all. _________________ http://chickhearn.ytmnd.com/

Yep, seasons 1 and 2 were very one-off heavy, but the finale of 2 takes the show into a more myth-arc based style.
And to expand on what I said previously, season 6 is also basically one long story (in retrospect it's actually pretty good and there are nice twists).
Season 7 also has its own story that strings together all of the eps, and seasons 8-9-10 are kind of like one big season in terms of how the stories flow together (not unlike seasons 3-4-5).
So I'd say power your way to the end of S2. If that ending doesn't hook you, then you might as well just call it quits for good |

I've heard good things about Black Mirror but forgot about that one too. I tried BSG but wasnt hooked.
Might have to go back and eventually check out the Star Trek stuff. |

Yes, I'll second this recommendation. The first episode isn't sci-fi, but after that one they are.
There's also a Christmas special starring Jon Hamm that is not on Netflix. I don't know where it's available, but I downloaded the torrent and watched it that way. |
