Lakers were two years too late in making this high stakes Nash trade. A 3 year deal for a 39 year old, with multiple picks? The odds were never in our favor that this was going to end well.

He was 37 at the time, and the expectation was probably never for him to contribute as a star for three years. That was just to make the money fitnwithin the exception the Lakers had.

He was actually 38 at the time of the trade and turned 39 in the middle of the season. It was great idea to trade for him, but even aside from the three years....... all those picks, I think that was too much for someone with a history of back problems. Like I said, two years too late.

Now we can stop hearing about him. Not his fault, but it's the way it is. He's a symbol of the team's darkest years since Magic retired. It will be good to not have him around.

VLF just cause the lakers wanted Nash to be involved with the team more is the only reason why he started to get connected with players and I would come from a devasting injury to if I knew I was making 28m a year he's not a true laker and basically handicapped the lakers future by his atrocious contract the lakers had to preserve.

Who's getting paid 28 million a year?

He wants to stay in Los Angeles...I would absolutely offer him a player development role.

He should repay the Lakers by recruiting Dragic if they end up drafting a center.

Nash is a great guy, wish him the best.

... now as a laker fan ...

Thank you for taking the ball out of kobe's hands after he showed his handles aren't up to it anymore. Thank you for bringing the perfect coach with you to implement a new system after the triangle. Thank you for making sure our new superstar big doesn't have to rely on passes from our "PF".

oh wait... all you really did was play Sacre onto the team huh? well thanks anyways.

JK! Thanks for being a canadian MVP (what i really mean is pissing off kobe enough for another 2 rings).

So many guys that were "Lakers" but will never be remembered as Lakers in a few years.

Nash, Dwight, probably Boozer/Lin, etc.

Slight correction,

He was a Warrior last season, but currently out of the NBA and a free agent. Mavs were rumored to be interested but he said he wasn't ready.

Good article on Basketball Insiders about Jodie Meeks and how much credit he gives Nash for helping him develop his game while with the Lakers.

OT, but that site should be everyday reading for NBA fans, they do such a great job of covering the sport. And no, I have no affiliation with it.

You had a great career Steve...but as far as the Lakers go, thanks for nothing..well at least you got your $27 million, that's what you really wanted...hope you enjoy it cuz you sure as hell didn't do anything positive for the Lakers or their fans.

Isaiah Rider just could never get his (bleep) together.

Can I add someone?

Greg Foster.

I remember hating this guy when he was on the Utah Jazz all those years, he used to be pretty physical with Shaq. It was pretty weird to see him in purple and gold.
