I'm kind of hoping Kobe be wise and just retire and not go through the torture of playing with a bunch of scrubs and him being the butt of jokes and internet memes. Considering we gift wrap our pick to Philly, and get laughed at and spurned by FA's... Why in the heck would Kobe wanna bust his tail to win 28 games? _________________ True Laker fan from the state of Michigan! Kobe won't play more than a handful of games next before getting injured again and calling it quits for good. |

If the Lakers keep the top 5 pick, the team won't be miserable I promise you.
If it goes according to plan, Kobe retire with:
- Clarkson the future point guard
- Randle the future power forward
- the top 5 pick being either the future Center, shooting guard or small forward.
- the future role players with the Lakers Houston pick, 2nd rounders and Tarik Black, etc.
It's the perfect way for Kobe to go out. Leaves the team and hands his keys to the next future dynasty. |

whether it becomes miserable or not depends on kobe. if he goes into the post again its gonna be bad. if he just pick and rolls all day at least he may have fun _________________ Kobe "I mean Phil's been here, and -- to be honest with you -- we might have, in all the years I've been with Phil, (had) maybe three defensive drills the entire time" |

It really depends on few factors... rather or not the Lakers would actually commit to signing FAs to long-term contracts and rather or not if a trade did materialize if that player with a long contract would give the Lakers the green light to absorb him.... the concern I have with the up-coming off-season is that "long-term flexibility" will still be in the mind of Mitch and Lakers brass which might prohibit the Lakers from actually fielding a contending team cause of the look-ahead. |

Me neither.
With a healthy Randle, healthy (hopefully) Kobe, a top 5 (hopefully) draft pick, and a marquee free agent or 2, the Lakers can take a big step forward very quickly.
That alone won't make the Lakers title contenders next season, but it would certainly make them interesting. _________________ ...in my opinion. |

Also addition by subtraction to get some of the current rental players. _________________ “There is always light if only we're brave enough to see it, if only we're brave enough to be it.” --Amanda Gorman |

IT ALL DEPENDS ON KEEPING THE TOP 5 DRAFT PICK.
It's key. |

Probably at best contending for the 7th-8th seed. I'll take that compared to our last 2 seasons. _________________ From 2-10 to the Western Conference Finals |

I pay way to much money for season tickets to watch a young team which needs to develop......two years with no stars on it and now watch a team develop.....that wont work |

I think you may be right. If we get all 4 picks this year, I don't see the Lakers bringing in 4 new rooks, coupled with Randle, and other youngsters like Clarkson, Black, Kelly, etc. That's a lot of young players.
Ticketholders, while very important, may be trumped by the bigger $ in TV deals (though the goal for both audiences are the same - winning). I could see some deals being made to acquire some vets. _________________ From 2-10 to the Western Conference Finals |

In that grouping would rather have Towns or WCS. But heck, beggars can't be choosy... _________________ From 2-10 to the Western Conference Finals |

Next season depends on a FA acquisition. It's unlikely that an improved Clarkson and two rookies (Randle included) will have us contending for the 8th seed without a marquee FA signing. |
