So the teams doing the best have the better coaches? Great, ground breaking analysis there.

Too funny.

Thibs (5th on the list) is on his way out.

I've watched Minnesota and Philly, kinda funny that ESPN thinks they're better coached than us.

Blatt at 19th?
Brad Stevens at 9th?

There are alot of coaches placed incorrectly on this list.

Funny that the two interim coaches got rated higher than Scott.

The franchise is down and out. Not sure why people get upset when sports media reflects the current state of the Lakers.

However, I would hope that a fair analysis of the franchise takes into account +/- 5 years. In that span we've won 2 championships and missed 2 playoffs. It's fair to wager that in the next 5 years, we'll be back in the mix.

Some get upset because these rankings appear to be indirectly criticizing our FO and franchise which some will religiously defend.

Presently, we are in very bad state. Whether we are "back in the mix" remains to be seen.

There was a recent interesting article about the Warriors and its recent rise to prominence. Bottom line is that it takes time and a little luck with our picks and other factors.

We have the time. Will we get lucky?

We do need some luck. I think if things go right this summer and next, we can be back in the mix.

Brad Stevens looks like the real deal. He's exactly who I would not want coaches the Lakers this season as we'd probably end up further out in the tank race. Despite his relevant inexperience he has the respect of the players and has managed to eke the maximum out of the minimum resources. He's also very analytic which I have a feeling will be a characteristic of the next generation of coaches.

I get what you're saying...but no way I'd rank him ahead of Blatt.
Let alone 10 spots ahead!
Blatt has 50% more wins than Stevens despite having a roster in flux (including a multi week rest period for James).
Stevens doesn't have to balance superstar personalities. He hasn't had to convince an all star player like Kevin Love to slide back into a stretch 4 role player position for the betterment of the team.

At the very least, he's been playing his young guys and not wasting minutes on lame duck veterans, something that only occurred to Byron two games ago.

Stevens did a pretty decent job managing the mercurial Rondo on a very green (pardon the pun) roster. If he had someone like Lebron on his team, it'd make him look even smarter. THe perception right now is that Blatt has the benefit of Lebron, not the other way around.

Plus, everyone spent the whole season saying the 76ers are losing on purpose and we weren't yet they have 1 fewer win than we do. Lmao

If the talent of the roster discounts Blatt's coaching contribution, the same should be applied to other teams.
I don't agree with the premise, but if I did.
Stevens should be ahead of Doc Rivers, Eric Spolestra, Carlisle, and Stotts.

The eastern conference has 5 top ten coaches on this list. Equal to the Western Conference. IMO that's bull (bleep).

Probably because he's on his 5th straight losing season. He's not a good coach at all. He's boderline at best

There's no respect for the triangle and smashmouth on that list. ESPN got it right.
