It's a new music streaming service: http://tidal.com/
I don't know about anyone else but I honestly cant remember the last time I bought music or paid for a music service. Free Pandora is good enough for me. |

Free ain't going to last forever. Artists deserve to be paid. They put in the hours, put in the work. _________________ “It took many years of vomiting up all the filth I’d been taught about myself, and half-believed, before I was able to walk on the earth as though I had a right to be here.”

Free accounts on things like Spotify and Pandora come with advertisements. T artists get paid. |

I'd bank that this thing becomes a success, pretentious artists or not. _________________ Back to Back Yeah, Yeah...and you know that!

Spotify has 60m active users WW with 15m paid subscribers. Pandora has 82m active users. Tidal has 500k paid/active users.
The business model doesn't work because most streaming music consumers want free (i.e. Pandora, Spotify) and only a portion are willing to convert to paid. Tidal only offers paid tiers and very few are willing to jump from tier 1 ($10/month) to tier 2 ($20/month) for higher quality audio.
Plus, Apple hasn't relaunched Beats Music yet which will be another competitor.
The deck is stacked against Tidal because Jay Z doesn't understand the digital streaming business and the device/technology ecosystem. No streaming music service has ever turned a profit. The only thing I can see is that the artists take a bigger cut on the up front royalties, but the business will have to operate at a loss. That's not a way to run a business because eventually the musicians will have to dump more of their own money to keep the operations going or raise capital. |

All I heard is words formed into sentences, but no meaning.
Madonna: "We have to put humanity back into being an artist. Human art." Ok, whatever. I'm sure a paid streaming service will do that, whatever that even means. _________________ ¡Hala Madrid! |

Shocking. It's almost like consumers don't give a (bleep) if the biggest music stars in the world get enough extra money to buy 20 mansions instead of only 15. |

Never thought of it that way. You're going Mr into subscribing by appealing to my humanity. |
