|
Quote: | This Week's NBA Rookie Ladder:
➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖
1. Nerlens Noel, Philadelphia 76ers
2. Andrew Wiggins, Minnesota Timberwolves
3. Elfrid Payton, Orlando Magic
4. Nikola Mirotic, Chicago Bulls
5. Jordan Clarkson, L.A. Lakers
6. Langston Galloway, New York Knicks
7. Marcus Smart, Boston Celtics
8. Zach LaVine, Minnesota Timberwolves
9. Jusuf Nurkic, Denver Nuggets
10. Tarik Black, L.A. Lakers
➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖
With averages of seven points and eight rebounds in 25.3 minutes per game since our last ladder, Black has done enough to sneak into the final spot. Viewed alongside his full-season accomplishments (Black ranks seventh in player efficiency rating and third in win shares among rookies), those recent stats provide enough support to slot him ahead of the other rookies.
Since the last rookie rankings, Jordan Clarkson has posted averages of 17.7 points, 5.9 assists and 4.9 rebounds.
Those are awesome stats for anyone, let alone a rookie, and it appears the Lakers have quality talent on their hands. |

I am surprised that Mirotic isn't higher. _________________ RIP mom. 11-21-1933 to 6-14-2023. |

My guess is it's Wiggins, Noel, Mirotic, Payton and Nurkic. Clarkson has to at least make 2nd team though. |

Nice to hear something positive about the young guys.
Curious about opinions of how Black should be used next year.
At Center or PF? Likely a backup at either position.
IMO he is a PF. A bit too small to be center. But his game is based on effort. Not offensive skills. I have not seen much offensive consistency outside of a few feet. Would need to to pair him with an offensively skilled center for spacing and scoring.
Do not like the defense or rebounding of him at C with Kelly at PF.
I like him as a player just find him hard place within a rotation.
Thoughts? |

I think that Black is better suited as a backup center. _________________ RIP mom. 11-21-1933 to 6-14-2023. |

He's been better than Nurkic, IMO. I think he has a chance to take that 5th spot. |

Agreed, he could play some PF but he needs to expand his range for that.
Definitely an energy guy off the bench at center. |

Clarkson > Smart

Some people have been saying that Nash is also to thank, for the mentoring.
I was really hating Nash this year but looking at what Clarkson is doing, I've definitely switched my opinion of him (Nash), again. _________________ Kobe |

People are sleeping on Tarik. He is going to have a solid career in the NBA as a good role player/glorified garbage man with monster athletic ability, size, and work ethic.
Love what he brings to the table. |

sure, i won't take that credit away from Nash at all. Getting Clarkson and the way he was developed (with Nash's help) has been the only bright spot this season |

Bout time the NBA noticed.
Tarik now fills the role Jordan Hill used to be good at. Garbage/energy 4/5 off the bench. Goodbye J Chill.
If Clarkson doesn't make the 1st team it will be a travesty |

No way does Nurkic make it over Clarkson.
Elfrid Payton
Jordan Clarkson
Andrew Wiggens
Mirotic
Nerlens Noel
That will and should be all first rookie team. |

He actually made a jumper last night. If he can develop that part of his game, there's no reason why he can't play the 4 on a consistent basis. |
