This is pertinent for two reasons:
1.Our FO has intimated that they would like to sign a franchise player over a couple of rotation players this off-season. So far, names like Love and Rondo has been bandied about. But I feel that DeAndre Jordan will have a much bigger impact than both of them. Conceivably, Lakers should see DeAndre as a franchise player they can market and a name to build on, not just as a defensive specialist, before they will have a run for him.
2. Lakers may be able to sell this vision to DeAndre and convince him that he is at best No.3 with the Clippers, whereas he can be the No.1 man in LA. The only way to lure him from the clips.
For comparison's sake with another player that our FO wanted to make into the face of our team:
Dwight Howard (as No.2 Option) 15.8ppg 10.5rpg 1.3bpg PER 19.3
DeAndre Jordan (as No.4 Option) 11.5ppg 15rpg 2.2bpg PER 21.05 _________________ “God knew they couldn’t be on this Earth without each other. He had to bring them home to have them together.” – Vanessa Bryant |

No. If Deandre Jordan's your best player, you aren't winning any titles. He'd be a great third option though. |

I like Jordan and want him. I do not see him as a star that the franchise can hang their hat on. He is a defensive player which is not sexy enough to be that person. Not sure I understand the need to get caught up in whether he is out #1 or 3 or 4 or whatever. I dont consider him an offensive weapon unless he is hauling in an offensive rebound in the paint. He can be the defensive leader of this team. A team with a history of winning and doing so with solid center play. If he bolts the Clippers there is certainly an advantage to him of staying in LA and not moving. If we can just convince him that we are assembling the pieces to give us a shot at winning a title in a few years. |

I think DeAndre is fools gold. A byproduct of CP3s greatness, and Blake Griffin getting a lot of attention. _________________ How can I get a copy of a Laker game played on Sunday, March 11, 2001 Sonics/Lakers? If you know PM me please

Don't know about face of the franchise. That's a moniker that few guys have earned. I think he's a solid role player. |

A guy with no offensive game, cannot be a franchise player. Lobs and put backs don't count. |

Face of a franchise is a big statement. Of Milwaukee, maybe, but not here.
Liability in the 4th due to free throw % (so was Shaq, but his everything else was a million times better), no real post game, average passer, very good defender, seems like a decent teammate. That does not = Face of the franchise _________________ Magic*Kobe*LBJ*AD*Cap |

Jordan is at his best when Griffin wasn't in the lineup.
He's not fools gold at all. He's one of the best big men in the game. Probably gonna finish second in DPOY after Draymond Green.
Elite level defender, rebounder, and finishes with the best of them in the paint.
Franchise guy? No, but he can absolutely be a championship piece.
I find comments like that silly. Chris Paul is terrific, but Jordan Clarkson has shown himself to be a very capable point guard in his own right and a solid play maker.
Adding to that is Jordan would be player with an elite two guard for the first time in his career with Kobe who will spoon feed him a lot of buckets as well as playing with Randle who is far more skilled than that one trick pony Griffin.
If we sign Jordan we're a playoff team IMO.
Some would say we'd lack depth and we would, but the Clippers had one of the worst benches in the league and were a top three seed because of a superior starting lineup.
Add in a potential lottery pick like say Russell.
Clarkson/Lin
Kobe/Russell
Barnes/Young
Randle/Davis
Jordan/Black
Not bad at all. Bench isn't great, but not terrible either.
Bring back Lin and Davis and bringing Barnes back on a two year deal.

I would rather draft WCS with our top 5 pick than pay for Jordan.
And I don't want to use our pick on WCS to begin with. _________________ "Every hurt is a lesson, and every lesson makes you better” |

There aren't many true franchise players, though average fans are more likely to coronate the offensively minded Love rather than Jordan. Both are dominant on one side of the ball, bad on the other and types you need to max out to sign them. The reason you don't hear Jordan as much is the Clips have an owner that will likely max him and the Cavs situation still isn't strong enough to rule out Love coming "home".
Howard was coming off of a 20.6ppg and I think Mitch said that somewhere between believing he'd be that and seeing that Howard's personality was one that needed to hear it. Jordan is an elite athlete that has carved out a great defensive game, but even he knows he's playing his best offensively he's going to play with CP3 feeding him lobs, shooters and Griffin drawing so much attention. Even if Mitch told him on the phone he would be the "face of the franchise" I don't think Jordan would believe it. |

Hell no. He's only known for his defense and he's not even good at that. He's an overrated defender. He has no offensive game at all other than other creating for him. A team with him as the best or second best player has no chance of even sniffing the finals. |

What is your solution for a rim protecting center? |

Okay bro you've lost all credibility because it's clear you haven't watched the man play at all.
He's one of the best defensive players in the NBA. |

Because poor and overrated defenders are often the favorites to win the Defensive Player of the Year Award? |

Then why is the Clippers not a good defensive team? Why does the Clippers allow less points when he's not on the floor? Why does he allow 49% fg at the rim? He's a great rebounder but he's not that great at protecting the rim. I remember Bynum used to own him all the time when they play. |

lol I guaranteed you that he will not win the Defensive Player of the Year. DPOY can still also be overrated like Marcus Camby. |

Clippers are a good defensive team. Where they struggle is defending the p'n'r and especially guarding the roll men. |
