Apparently, the influences on this film include Saving Private Ryan, Zero Dark Thirty, and Black Hawk Down, which are a big reason why LF got the special effects and photography directors from those films. Story by John Knoll of ILM.

The official canon people said they're going to let Bioware handle the old republic stuff for now (as in it's canon until Disney says it's not), but I'd love to see a "Revan" anthology film.

I'd settle for a KOTOR refurbish with updated graphics and mechanics. Leland Chee once mentioned that all the possibilities for Revan's face/ethnicity/gender and choices made deciding on a canon miserable. Likely won't see a Revan film because someone out there will be disappointed in choice of character.
Yeah. Though in the Revan Novel and in SWTOR they give you Bioware's canon version of Revan -- the white european jesus looking guy with long brown hair. That happened to be the one I picked in Kotor, luckily enough.
Exile would be good for a movie too, though more people have a problem with Bioware's canon depiction of her than with Revan...

From what I've read it's a prequel to Episode 3: A New Hope. There is a team assembled to attempt to steal the plans for the Death Star. Not exactly a direct prequel, but a tie-in of sorts. Wasn't too thrilled with this teaser, but we'll see. _________________ "Dread it, run from it... destiny arrives all the same."
Disney has a lot riding on this, maybe even more so than Episode VII. If it's a huge success, then it shows the series can do Star Wars stories in the universe that don't involve the Skywalker family and Jedis. If it's a flop then Disney probably starts to reevaluate their plans for stand alone Star Wars movies. Fingers crossed its good, because I'd like to see more movies exploring the rest of the Star Wars universe.

I'm not a sucker for many things, but I admit I am for Star Wars. I'm not like an obsessive super fan, but watching The Force Awakens on opening night was one of the few things that made me feel like a kid again. But I guess that's why I'm able to forgive so many obvious flaws in these films.
I'll be watching this for sure.
Now that that's out of the way, another strong white female lead (not that I have a problem with that) and another Death Star (I guess this is the same Death Star as in A New Hope, but timing of release wise, this is feeling very redundant).
Also, lol at Mark Hamill at the beginning of this clip for Force For Change charity campaign:
