Since Brooks just got fired by OKC, I figure this was worth asking. Who would you rather have as HC?

Granted, it is HIGHLY unlikely that Mitch/ Jim/ et al. would dump Byron after just 1 season and with all the injuries we had this year - AGAIN - but the thought of having Brooks around to help guide the re-building of the team and with Westbrook looming as a free agent makes for a fun hypothetical scenario.

It's a grass is greener scenario. I don't think brooks is a good coach at all

It's about time he got fired.

Brooks has been holding OKC back for years. Surprised it didn't happen sooner.

Pass on Brooks. I would rather have Bryon for one more year and when Kobe retires after next season see who might be available.

Another name being brought up is Billy Donovan.

To answer the thread question, I'd go with Scott simply because I don't think Brooks presents that much of an improvement. At least in my opinion, not enough to warrant another change.

Stupid poll & thread that should be LOCKED.

There is ZERO chance the Lakers especially Jim Buss & Mitch are going to fire Byron Scott and hire Scott Brooks.

Laker managment want stability right now in the head coach.

Players absolutely LOVE playing for Scott Brooks. That says nothing about his coaching ability, but players do love him. Especially Durant

Byron Scott is a good coach. We are going to need stability before we start contending again. I think if we stick it out with Scott, we'll be fine. No need to change right now.

In a vacuum, Scott Brooks is better. Neither he nor Byron are vaunted X&Os guys, but Scott Brooks's players loved playing for him. His team never quit on him. There's a reason he lasted 7 years there.

Byron can't make the same claim. He has lost every locker room he ever coached.

Neither is a good coach but players seem to actually like Brooks for some reason.

Well, he surely didn't lost the locker room this season.

Agreed.

Byron's not gonna get fired while still being paid unless someone like Thibs comes along.

I will stick with Byron. Still think some of you are underestimating his value as HC. Give him a couple of years to develop the roster and systems.

Given a few lucky breaks with the draft, a key free agent signing and some healthy players and I think they can improve 20 games next year. Who knows if the chemistry is special maybe they can make it a 25 game improement and be among the biggest turnarounds in NBA history. Byron did it once with the Nets.

The Scotty Brooks thing is kind of funny. I live in Denver and local radio guys are touting how great a hire he would be all afternoon long. Local favorites seem to be Brooks, D'Antoni or keeping their interim HC.

B. Scott all day, people forget he took a overrated NJ squad to the NBA Finals with far less talent than what Brooks had in OKC.
