He's an hour-to-hour person. Even calling him day-to-day is going too far. I don't think he even knows what mood he's gonna be in from hour to hour unless he has access to and is willing to accept structure/discipline and even then, that's his decision. Nothing is foisted on Mr. Tyson - I don't even think prison bothered him all that much, he's blase about the experience, frankly. I just recently saw a doc on him made in 93 that showed how much he wanted certain basic positive things at any given time in his life including the feeling of family, a father figure (whatever form it took, Cus or otherwise), discipline, parenthood, love, etc. I think Mike mostly wants a normal life, but he has always had to tread a tightrope with his demons, psychological condition(s), addictive (alcohol, drugs) personality, anger management, intense emotions, snap physical outbursts, etc, etc, in order to maintain it.

That interviewer was being a sh-head for playing devil's advocate. "Some people are saying" and "convicted rapist". To his credit, Mike's too cunning to fall for that. His smarts are usually called "street smarts", which kinda derisively dismisses whatever intelligence he may have, but one way or the other, he knew that guy was messing with him.

I believe your assessment of Mike to be spot on. However, I also believe if Cus had lived, he would have been one of the best heavy weights to come along since Ali.

I think Downey Jr handled it pretty well actually. He was calm, polite, and clearly implied numerous times that he was there to talk about the movie.

That reporter came across as a complete tool.

I think the interviewer felt there was one coming which was why he ended the interview.
