Quote:
California Democratic Rep. Loretta Sanchez, a U.S. Senate candidate, was caught using a derogatory gesture directed at Native Americans at an event for Indian Americans on Saturday.
Quote:
“I’m going to his office, thinking I’m going to meet with a… ” Sanchez said before clapping her hand over her mouth and making a chanting sound.
The gesture, reminiscent of 1950s depictions of Native Americans widely condemned as racist, drew tepid laughter in the crowd as well audible several outraged cries of “oh my God” and “What the heck was that?”

It's always funny to me when minorities are racist towards other minorities.
Makes no sense whatsoever.
In Americas history, the group with the most recent arrival wave that get's treated unfairly has usually been the one to be at the forefront of treating the next wave of immigrants with derision and racisim. What's strangest is that the 2 groups with the longest tenure, Native Americans & Blacks, fell out of that traditional pecking order.
When the Germans came, the English treated them poorly, then the Germans crapped on the Italians, then the Italians crapped on the Irish, Then the Irish crapped on the Polish, Then the Polish crapped on the Armenians. There was a lull, before they all united and collectively crapped on the Japanese, who after they started recover crapped on the Koreans, who in turn crapped on the Vietnamese. Finally there was another unification where collectively Americans crapped on the Mexicans, who then crapped on the Central Americans. Through it all, everyone kept crapping on the Native Americans. _________________ I'm On point, On task, On message, and Off drugs. A Streetwise Smart Bomb, Out of rehab and In denial. With her U.S. Senate campaign off to a bumpy start, Loretta Sanchez refused Sunday to rule out the possibility of running instead for reelection to the House of Representatives.
At a brief question-and-answer session with reporters, Sanchez (D-Santa Ana) first declined to elaborate on her apology to state Democratic convention delegates Sunday morning for making a stereotypical Native American “war cry” gesture in remarks to a crowd the day before.

I have no idea how this ignorant lady got into Office. I remember she has some problems with racial comments toward vietnamese in orange county .
She took advantage in the change of demographics during the mid-90's in the OC. The guy she replaced was a bit crazy in his final years. I believed she first ran as a Republican before she switched over to the Democratic party, so she's one of those people who have always been politically ambitious.

Apparently she knows to pick on minorities that have such small representation in the population that many people wont get angry about it.

Reminds me of the time Howard Dean did his screaming madman routine back in 2004. It became talk show fodder and basically killed his campaign. When you consider how prevalent social media is these days, this gaffe is going to spread like wildfire and she'll end up being the butt of jokes.

It's funny, as an African American I feel like we got it worse than everybody you listed ... except maybe the Native Americans.
I'm not sure what's worse. Being a slave or being wiped out via genocide. _________________ "Every hurt is a lesson, and every lesson makes you better”

Insensitivity personified. She may be showing her true colors or she really may have meant no harm.
Making gestures like that allows she's either unaware of their racial significance or she's not very bright.
Either way I believe she derailed her chances to be elected. _________________ Be who you are and say what you feel because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind.

She should go back to being a republican.
Forget that. You guys can keep her.
I can see why you'd feel that way since you guys are already saturated with racist idiots.
Says the guy making a broad prejudiced generalization based on a steteotype...
Stereotype, or generalization that is true in far more cases than not? I mean, If I say that men are taller than women, am I wrong because there are some tall women and short men?
