So do we exercise Jordan Hill's 10m Team Option since we are guaranteed Okafor/Towns?

Now that we are essentially guranteed Okafor/Towns to pair with Randle is there a need to keep Jordan Hill or should we keep him and use his contract as trade-bait?

I wouldn't. I'd offer Hill a shot to come back for less, but I'd also see about holding onto Davis as a backup big since he is a more natural shot-blocker than Okafor is right now at this stage of development.

Yeah the Lakers have dominated the "trade an expiring at the deadline" the last couple of years. [/smart ass comment]

Are you (bleep) kidding me? Drop his ass onto the Clippers. Doc can pick him up at the same dump he found Barnes in.

Keeping him would be disastrous.

We've seen absolutely everything Hill is and it isn't great.

Let him go and roll with Randle, Tarik Black, probably our #2 pick, Kelly, and maybe a free agent or later draft pick also.

Spend that cap space on multiple 3&D+ wings.

Adios, Sayonara, Hasta la Vista, Au Revior, and GOODBYE HILL!

Really though, we don't have much need for him. Black and Davis(if we want him back) are cheaper, Randle's coming back, and we have Okafor or Towns coming in. I'd rather we develop all of those guys and bring in a SF with Hill's money.

I doubt the Lakers pick up the option even if we didn't get the pick.

Hill won't be back. I think they go after a 3 and D SF like Carroll and re-sign Davis.

The only way LA exercises his option IMO is if there is a trade involving him prior to free agency.

Yep, Doc is about to go Dumpster diving for Laker rejects this summer.

If they can't get anything in a trade I would keep Hill. He's an excellent backup center. We'd still have about 15 million to spend. Sign DeMare Carroll and bring back Lin for cheap.

Clarkson/Lin
Kobe/Brown
Carroll/Young
Randle/Black
Okafor or Towns/Hill

No, open cap space. This means FA's will be attracted to play in LA. Towns/Okafor plus Randle and Clarkson are great starts. We need a wing and back up point guard to make it work. After Kobe calls it quits next year we can go after KD.

Tariq Black can take those backup minutes. Let's free up $10mil and see what we can get in free agency.

There are better backup centers than Hill for that money, and you don't want to take a max player out of the equation before free agency even begins.

Even if we don't draft a big. Hill should go. Ed Davis and black will have way better value
